what fails on main boards?

Couple questions what parts usually fail on main board. Like for example when main board will turn on tv but no backlight what is that? Or when backlight will turn on but no picture.?

Could be virtually anything!

Here's a short list:

• regulators / power supplies for the lower main board voltages (DC-DC buck converters, LDOs, rarely boost converters)
• flash memory, particularly large NAND devices and SPI devices
• EEPROM memory corruption
• processor soldering failure
• SMD fuse failure
• electrolytic capacitor failure
• shorted MLCC ceramic capacitor or tantalum capacitor
