Samsung ue32f5000AKXXU no picture or sound

Hi, I'm no tv expert at all but I can use a Phillips screwdriver so I'd love to learn and fix this myself. Thanks in advance for any help to explain what I can do.

Symptoms, in order, were. During watching via hdmi, no picture, still sound. Wife reported she could just see a little bit of very dark detail of something vague. Switched off, later switched on and now no sound. Tried resetting everything, different sources but only worse.

Now, when turned on, red standby led light blinks once, stays on for about two seconds (during this time I can hear a whirring like the computer is turning on bu then it stops), blinks 5 times slowly and then goes off completely. Clicking standby button blinks the led. Holding it down the light keeps blinking.

No picture or sound throughout. Please help.

On this model if you unplug the main av board from the power supply the back lights should go on?

    Do this and report back.

Just adding the pictures. Also, sorry but I don't know most TV terminology. I quick explanation of which components are which would be brilliant.

I assume you mean the PCB receiving all the inputs. Whilst the TV was connected to the power, I unplugged this from what I assume to be the power pcb on the other side (cable numbered 14). Nothing happened. Reconnected, the standby light blinked 6 times and a component on the the back of the pcb lit red for a second.

      Thanks again,

Re: Samsung ue32f5000AKXXU no picture or sound

        Ok 3 boards:

Brownish board = power supply, psb
Large green board = main AV board, motherboard etc
Small green board = tcon, timing control board.

Firstly when you are unplugging boards, do so with the power off.

So you are saying that when you unplug the power supply from the main AV board you are not getting back lights when you plug the tv back in?

          Thanks very much.

When I unplug and reconnect the main av board from the power board no lights come on at all.

When you say back lights do you mean lights on the backs of the circuit boards or light emitting from somewhere else?

In case it's relevant, when I switch power of at the plug the standby red light which is cabled through the main av board stays on for about 30 seconds. I'm not sure what you're testing for.

We are talking about the backlights inside the LCD panel, you can see them glow through the from the screen if you are in the dark room or see them through the holes on the back of the LCD panel.

You mean you have the cable between the main board and the power supply board (BN44-00605A) completely disconnected and then you plug the power cord into the power cord into the outlet and you do not see he backlghts, is that right?
If that is the case that will indicate bad power supply/LED driver board, but I am not 100% sure since I cannot find the diagram for this power supply board.
Most of the newer version power supply/driver boards have built-in pull-up resistors to help aid troubleshooting to see if the TV has power supply problem or main board problem.
The connector that goes to the main board has label for each pin to tell you what they are, you can test all the pins and report the DCV readings for each pin and the pin name for each pin so we can see what are missing.

                    Thanks for your help.

Given that the power from the mains is disconnected at the time that means that there is meant to be local charge available in the power board? Ok, I didn't know that.

And when it's plugged in the power is getting through to the standby light but not enough to power the TV?

I'm sorry if I'm asking stupid questions.

I guess this is the point I take it to a local TV specialist unless there is a guide for noobs out there on how I could test this myself?

                          OK, do this:
                          1) Unplug the TV from the AC outlet.
                          2) Disconnect the cable between the power supply and the main board.
                          3) Plug the TV into the AC outlet, no need to hit the power switch.
                          4) Do you see the backlights on the LCD panel come on?
                          5) Or take it to the repair shop and let the pro fix it.

Don't replug the cable from main board to power supply, that's what it sounds like you are doing. Unplug the cable, plug back into wall socket.

                            Follow budm above.

Do you have a digital multimeter?

If I was going to hazard a guess id say you probably have a fault with your LEDs.
Probably one or two open LEDs

So you'll need to check voltages going to the LED strips to confirm.
