Sony KDL-52XBR9 LCD TV 6 red flashes

I have an LCD tv that does the following:

I turn on the power, the backlight/screen comes on for a couple seconds, then shuts off, turns on again for a couple seconds, shuts off, then on and off again. Then the tv shuts down and i get 6 flashes on the power LED. See pics of inside tv below:

The error codes are for a backlight problem. Manual says D4N board, main board , inverter board,or power supply. I have tried removing connectors from each board one at a time(other then the main board), and I still get the 6 red flashes.

I get nothing on the bal error or inv error pins, stays near 0v. I do get 3.2V on back_light pin for a couple seconds then goes to 0 volts. The backlight pin gets its voltage from the main board, so I would assume the main board is ok.

Can anyone suggest anything I can do to narrow down the board causing the problems. Thanks in advance.

All the voltages come up as they should on the power supply, albeit for a short time. 3.3v standby is always there so p/s should be good. Any suggestions?

If no backlight then you need to disassemble the matrix.
            Lamp check.

Keep the DCV meter on CN6903 pin 1 (inv error) of the D4N Inverter board before the power switch is activated and after the power switch is activated.
I have a feeling one of the two inverter boards (D3N, D4N) is not working.

Hi budm. I tested pin 1 of CN6903. When I first plug in the tv, the voltage is 6.3v. After about 30 seconds it goes to 0v and tv clicks. The LED flashes red and voltage is 0v at pin 1 of CN6903. Turn power on and voltage goes to 6.3v then a few seconds later tv shuts off and voltage on pin 1 drops to 0v.

I look at XBR6 manual which has similar setup as the XBR9.
The INV_ERROR and the BAL_ERROR pins (CN6204, CN6201 on the power supply board) normally LOW as you have indicated in post 1.
But do you see those two pins stay LOW and never did jump up high at all?

Maklaud- The pic you posted with the 470 ohm resistor is that to test the backlight and force it to stay on.

Hi Budm. The voltage stays at 0 volts on BAL_ERROR, but when backlight comes on the voltage jumps from 0 to between 0.6-2 volts on the INV_ERROR pin.

ok with D4N board connected to the D3N board, I measured the inv_error pin on D3N board and it measures 6.3V. When I remove the connector from the D4N board on the D3N board, the voltage on the inv_err pin measures 0V. I guess this means D4N invertor board is defective. Since there is a schematic, is it possible to repair rather the replace the whole board.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

                                          Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?

Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
                                          CN6401
                                          Pin 01 NC
                                          Pin 02 NC
                                          Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
                                          Pin 04 "N/C"
                                          Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
                                          Pin 06 "GND": N/C
                                          Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
                                          • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
                                          • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Hi everyone, newcomer in this forum, i watched tons of video from Sorin, i like the way i calmly explain things, i did quite some console repair, i am not that bad at micro-soldering, but troubleshooting where the issue is, is definitely where i still have progress to make. Usually i was able to fix the console because the failure was obvious, or because i was able to find someone with similar measures on the board and was pinpointing what to replace that way.
Nevertheless, let's say, i don't come as a total beginner.
I have this old laptop, which suit perfectly my needs, with the...
