Re: help with plasma lg 42pc5d no picture but powers on
What's crazy is i had a newer lg plasma i fixed couple months ago kept cutting in and out and when picture would cut out i would still have sound. And I did the auto gen and test patterns appeared and I ordered new main and still did it and what's weird it happen to be the digital main faultComment

Re: help with plasma lg 42pc5d no picture but powers on
The autogen test bypasses the main board and part of the control board. If the autogen works, the PSU, Z-sus, Y-sustain, panel, buffers etc are all working ok. There is a very small chance the control board LVDS processor is faulty but in almost all cases the main board is the only fault. Please do not PM me with questions! Re: help with plasma lg 42pc5d no picture but powers on
I have this TV LG 42PC5D today and I have the same problem in this post. So I did the autogen test, tried a wire clip first but it would not work so I soldered it in and presto, the TV turns on with the test patterns showing all over the screen, nice nice nice! TV works great so I guess I must have a bad main board. The TV will not turn off either. So I am going to order a used main board and see what happens.Comment

OH YEA! I removed the soldered jumper and got the main board from eBay for $20 & free shipping. Hope they send me a good board.
I have at least another 200 TVs to fix. I will try to get them all done by Thanksgiving.Last edited by Shane711; 08-13-2017, 09:10 PM.Comment

by KYBOSHSaved this beast from the landfill this weekend.
Manfactured July 2013 in Mexico.
I love working on plasma TVs.
Its been a while but I was lucky enough to find 2 this week.
The TV powers on and stays on but no picture. Havent checked for sound yet.
No bulging caps although the insides are pretty dusty and the boards are discolored from many years of high heat.
Will start troubleshooting tonight.

by KYBOSHPicked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.
When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.

by csmithI replaced the backlights all good. Two months later set was dead, had a shorted D9100, replaced all good again.
Now months later set powers up,backlights light ok,no picture. 12volts missing from fuse on tcon. 12VA on power
supply is 19 volts. Changed D9100 again, same, 12 volts measures 19. Am I looking at a power supply or mainboard
issue. Set will power up with remote but not power off.... -
by sergio_avHi, I'm unexperienced with troubleshooting and I'm not sure how to proceed with this laptop.
Motherboard is A5WAH LA-B991P I think, i5-5200U and nvidia 820m.
When I received the laptop, CMOS battery had 0V. I took it out and all the testing has been done without a CMOS battery and without the main battery plugged in, I haven't been able to see physical damage, burnt or missing components with a quick visual inspection, and no shorts were found.
Laptop charges the battery, powers on when ON button is pressed when powered from charger and when powered from the battery, but...1 Photo -
by Tr0llHi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.
The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.
Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.
First replacement T-con:
I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)... - Loading...
