Panasonic TC-P65ST30 - 7 lights, possible screen failure?

Hi guys, new to the forums. I'm definitely not an experienced electronics guy, but I'm not a newbie to technical problems and diagnosis (automotive technician).

I picked up my coworkers' TC-P65ST30 for free because he didn't want to deal with the 7 blinking lights of death. After some reading in other threads, I've disconnected the SU/SD boards and jumped the SC50 connector, and get a solid power light, with no picture. From what I understand, that narrows it down to the SU/SD boards, and/or the screen itself taking out those boards.

My coworker claims that he had someone else (he's being very vague and/or cagey about this) replace "all 3 boards on the left side." I assume he means the SC, SU, and SD boards. I've found a couple of hints about bad screens taking out the SU and SD boards on other Panasonic models, but I don't find much info on my particular model.

How likely is it that I might have a bad screen? I found used SU and SD boards (TNPA5347/5346) on Amazon from private sellers for about $36, so I'm tempted to throw those in and just go for it. Is there any more diagnosis I could do to eliminate other potential problems?

Also, I've seen a lot of part numbers TNPA5346AC and TNPA5347AC. In automotive circles, this is usually a revision of an existing part, and can often be crossed over. Is that true of TV parts, or is it going to be a totally incompatible part?

I appreciate your help here guys!

The revision will be due to a different panel model and so is matched to it. i've only had a very quick look but comparing the 2 SD boards there a ceramic cap added to one so you'll probably get away with it but wold be better to get the right one or remove that cap off the AC version and that shold then make them the same.

If you go to shopjimmy and look at the pictures enlarged on both boards and both versions you should be able to work out the differences which will be subtle I suspect.

Check all mounting bolts on the SC and SS for security and good earths. On this series they changed the bolt type with no locking washers which have resulted in these coming loose and can be a reason for the boards blowing. Not sure if this has an affect on the buffers.

always a chance of a bad panel you won't know unless these blow again quickly or it still has 7 blinks since the SC50 test passed that's a good sign the SC is ok.
