No more Sony 14 blink issue fix!!

As all you know so e Sony lcd tvs erratically throw the 14x blink code for a HFR error. This signal is generated from the tcon for a high frame rate 120hz error. Some tcon boards in these sonys do this for no known reason rendering the tv useless even though the picture is fine for the few seconds it stays on.

My fix. Find the dark blue wire on the lvds cable. It's on the end of the lvds cable. Disconnect this wire. Problem solved. No more shutdown.

Btw this repair hack was done on a KDL-46xbr6

Thanks Hamie. This one took some time. It may be because I used an incompatible mainboard for the tv. Originally it takes the dreaded BT2 board. I found a BT3 board that was used in the KDL-46vl 160 and the KDL-46z4100. Same panel. Different tcon. These were not compatible with the KDL-46XBR6 mainboard. I already repaired two of the original Tcon words with success utilizing voltage regulators and controller IC's but the last tcon board in the third TV I could not repair. So I ran across this board for cheap which was said to work. Yes it did work but it would throw the 14-blink error code.. So I modified it lol

I have a KDL46XBR6 which goes into bliking mode, 14 blinks to be exact. I disconected the dark blue cable and the problem still there. I took longer to go into blinking mode but still blinking. Any other causes that would do that?

I wonder if the 120Hz is still functioning without the wire, need to get the LCD panel model number to look for spec sheet which should gives the pin out functions for the board.

Sony RB2G Chassis KDL-55W815B MAIN BOARD 2 Blink Error issue resolved! Happy days :)
                by cheeky2
For anyone interested just repaired this Sony Main board TV that had a 2 blink error code, the chassis is a RB2G which is common to quite a few different Sony models. The Ceramic 10uF 25V X7R 1206 capacitor C9114 was shorted which took the smd 2A 0603 fuse out F9101. This was powering the Buck converter TPS54332 which caused no 5V output from it.
See the attached picture of the locations of both components. I also attach the best service manual I found for this board for anyone else in a similar position of trying to repair this main board. It's not specific to the TV model however it gives...

                Sony 85x90CK 4 red blink
                by EazyBone
So I got this Sony and purchased it working.. got it home and it was 4 blinks red. Seller actually refunded me thankfully. Now it's massive to take apart and I know 4 blink can be the panel sometimes but not always..

But I found a method through other ways with grounding out the bl error pin on the LD driver board. Now the tv turns on and works.

Pin is number 27. It was either remove the resistor right next to the solder pad or solder the pad to ground. I soldered the pad.

Now what is this going to do to the tv? Is it just going to die shortly down the road?...

Sony Bravia KDL-70W850B T-CON board / software update issue
                by eclectric
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue before I give up on this TV.

In short, I replaced the T-CON board due to an error code indicating that was the problem, after which it flashed a green and orange LED meaning software update required. I cannot get the tv to do the required update via USB, so I am stuck.

Here is a rundown of the symptoms and the steps I have taken to troubleshoot:

I inherited the TV with the symptom that it would turn on, then turn off after 5-10 seconds and a red LED flashed 4 or 5 times. Sometimes it would be 4, sometimes...

Sony SLV-E780 Power Supply Issue – Clicking Sound, Need Help Identifying Faulty Component
                by Akuanka
                Hi everyone,

I'm troubleshooting a power supply issue with a Sony SLV-E780 VCR. The device clicks repeatedly but doesn't power up completely. I've already replaced five capacitors, but the problem persists.

Here's a video link https://photos.app.goo.gl/3Xki6yvCLn67gLX78 showcasing the sound. Based on your experience, could this be due to a transformer, diode, or another component? Any guidance on what to test or replace next would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

sony sdm-p234 very rare issue never seen before
                by GraphicMan
The monitor is old yes but occasionally used (perhaps about 1 ~2 hours usage per day on average)
one time i turned the pc on and noticed this issue
                what could it be?
nothing wrong is seen when it is off, also the issue is not there on a green screen!
when watching movies it is hard to detect unless in black screen/large shadows
                please check the images, thanks...
