    Proscan PLDED3996A-C2 Backlight burnt..

    Hey Badcaps peoples.

Got my hands on one of these quality built Proscan PLDED3996A-C2 LCD tv's

Have picture and sound (picture can be seen with flashlight)

From other threads I found that this model has strips of LED's serving as the backlight for the LCD. Power supply is putting out 25v to the LED connector on top with or without the connector connected. So im thinking it doesn't require a higher voltage to run these? (have several of these strips lighting up my vehicle and they require a welding mask @12vdc..)

    Any thoughts?

A picture of the board would help (both sides), Usually the voltage to the led's is higher than 25v. It is usually boosted to a higher voltage around 60 -70 volts
This thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=43429 has a schematic of a led driver supply (most likely different than yours) but should explain how it works.

      Hey RJ

Yes. According to that thread, LED's should have some 70 volts going in their direction. They don't. High voltage part and coil stay cold. Hm. Guess ill be followig the steps in the thread you sent me to see if I can figure out what's causing this.. The connector driving the LED's is the thinner one on top center of the board. Had it set up like this last evening to do some testing.

Coil doesn't look overheated at all. seen several on here that look like they were barbequed. This one doesn't... and reading through this coil, I should end up with little to no resistance right?

sorry. Have some electronics repair experience, but this may be a bit over my head..

this tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even...

ASUS ROG Strix G713QR - Keyboard, backlight and side LEDs don't work
          by hollox123
Hello, I have an "ASUS ROG Strix G713QR" laptop, and for approx. 3 months I have the following problems:

          1. Laptop keyboard doesn't work
          2. The backlight on the laptop keyboard doesn't work
          3. The x2 side LEDs (red) on the laptop don't work

The power button works, the touchpad works, and all the USB, HDMI, Ethernet, etc. ports work.

I already tried to reinstall all the drivers and reinstall Windows. So I don't know what to try anymore that is software-related.

But I am strongly aiming that it is somehow a BIOS-related problem,...

Panasonic LED TV TC-40A420U - Replaced Backlight LEDs but now no image/display or garbled
          by signal.quest
I have a Panasonic LED TV TC-40A420U. The TV was given to me as an attempt to fix or throw out. I replaced the Backlight LEDs and now the screen lights up, but there is no image/display. If I play with the up/down buttons I can get the display to change from black to garbled. I can't get sound from HDMI but not sure of what input is selected. I have no remote control. When I connect a laptop to the HDMI ports it recognizes a Panasonic TV for display and sound output but I can't see or hear anything through the TV. This makes me think the mainboard is OK, but not sure if mainboard can...

Toshiba 55lf621c21 Dim Picture / Backlight afterbypassing a Burnt LED
          by willis6732
          Hello,

This TV came in for a backlight Repair. I bypassed the Burnt LED as shown in Picture. I thought it was fixed and returned to customer. So I dont have the TV anymore, but customer says its not really watchable.

Now the TV Is much dimmer than before. It does a quick bright flash when it first turns on.

The Driver board looked pretty toasty in the LED Driver Area.

So I am wondering.. how can i Tell if this is a LED or Driver Board Issue?...

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
          by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...
