Re: Proscan PLDED3996A-C2 Backlight burnt..
Coil doesn't look overheated at all. seen several on here that look like they were barbequed. This one doesn't... and reading through this coil, I should end up with little to no resistance right?
sorry. Have some electronics repair experience, but this may be a bit over my head..

Re: Proscan PLDED3996A-C2 Backlight burnt..
Hey RJ
Yes. According to that thread, LED's should have some 70 volts going in their direction. They don't. High voltage part and coil stay cold. Hm. Guess ill be followig the steps in the thread you sent me to see if I can figure out what's causing this.. The connector driving the LED's is the thinner one on top center of the board. Had it set up like this last evening to do some testing....Last edited by teeveetroubleddutch; 06-27-2015, 01:15 PM.

Proscan PLDED3996A-C2 Backlight burnt..
Hey Badcaps peoples.
Got my hands on one of these quality built Proscan PLDED3996A-C2 LCD tv's
Have picture and sound (picture can be seen with flashlight)
From other threads I found that this model has strips of LED's serving as the backlight for the LCD. Power supply is putting out 25v to the LED connector on top with or without the connector connected. So im thinking it doesn't require a higher voltage to run these? (have several of these strips lighting up my vehicle and they require a welding mask @12vdc..)
Any thoughts?

Re: 50PFP5332D Philips - worth fixing?
Much appreciate the reply. Looked into getting y-main repaired and finding some working buffers. I think I figured out that that's relatively costly. But even despite the cost, would it be worth it considering the screen doesn't light up with the y circuitry disconnected? And just the z connected to the power supply? Or could fried y boards cause the screen not to light up with just the z connected? Its a nice TV and I'd like to try and salvage it.....

50PFP5332D Philips - worth fixing?
Hey y'all.
Total newbie here. Have some electronic experience and know my way around a dmm.
Have this super nice 50 inch plasma 50PFP5332D TV that is acting not so nice. Was given as a project since owner didn't want to mess with it and just went ahead and bought a nice LCD. Have done some homework on this site and have so far determined that the power supply is putting out correct voltages. No bulged caps or weird nonsense. Shows heartbeat pulse on controller board and blue light comes on in front. Both relays click in and both y & x mains make their characteristic...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hey y'all. Dutch import life long tinkerer. Recently came across this site after letting the magic smoke out of a nice Philips plasma and trying to puzzle this thing back together. Have always been in electronics for a living, but more along the lines of building life safety systems and getting my toes wet on component level repair. Hope to find help and be of help in the future!
