    LG 47LV5500 Strange Problem.

Last night in the middle of watching a movie, my TV screen all of the sudden started showing weird colors. I tried everything I could apart from taking the dang thing apart to try and fix or diagnose the problem to no avail, so I started to analyze what was happening. The problem is mainly seen in white and black parts of the TV. Black parts are showing green and blue strips of pixels, while white areas are showing strips of pink. I broke down and finally decided to just open the back up on the TV. My first suspect after some research online was a bad T-con. After re-seating several cables I decided to turn on the TV while unplugging each cable to see what changes happen to the screen. When I unplug the left ribbon on the T-Con (in the attached picture, the one I unplugged is the left one that is missing from the picture), the colored strips of pixels go away, and are replaced with vertical black lines exactly two pixels in width and occur every two pixels as well (See attachments). Having seen this, I think I sort of narrowed it down to either being the main board, the T-Con board or the left ribbon connecting the two. I am not positive in how correct I am on this assumption though and would hate to purchase a new board only to have the same issue, so I figured I would come onto this forum for some advice if anyone else has gone through this problem

NOTE: I am having issues with uploading photos to my post, so here are links to the photos on Imgur:

Did you resolve the issue? What was it? My LG 47LV5500 appears to have the same issue.

LV series has BGA issues. Try heating with a hair dryer before plugging in. There are repair services on ebay. Ignore the repair kits since the BGA needs reballing.

as above try heating the mainboard with a hair dryer this should prove if its a bga issue no harm in cleaning and re seating the lvds lead too (lead between mainboard and tcon)

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
            by Hakuu
            Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
            by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Philips 70PUS7855/12 bad colors when applying the tape fix on teh T-con board
            by silikon77
            Hi!
Got an 70 inch Philips tv model 70pus7855/12 from scraps and I decidet to give it a go. I'm an enthusiast but no porfessional in the electronics.
Found some advices watching youtube nad came up with this:
It came with no picture, after diagnosing it I found out that the right side of the T.con board was faulty.
I taped down the clock signals and I got a picture but the left side of the panel has less pronounced colours. Only the right 3rd side of the panel has good colors.
            See attached picture.

I tried a few combinations to block individual clock...
