    Samsung pn60e530a3f sound no picture

I followed a similar thread from back in January and did not get any results.
I bought a 60" plasma that would intermittently display the picture. It would always have sound. After a couple days it would no longer display at all. The logic board will flash every 5 seconds. I found two televisions with the same boards. I bought both television sets with cracked screens (cheap). I changed all the boards. Still no picture. Same result with the logic board. I changed the y main and buffers, x main and buffer, the power board and all the cables. from the 3rd set. Still no change. The ve and va voltages are good. If i unhook the ribbon to the y main the logic board flashes normally. Any advice on what next?

        Yeah but what's the vscan?

Test point located on the ysus.

        Have you tried test patterns?

vsc and -vy test point I could not find. I tested at the connector but got a really low number and figured I was doing it wrong. The only way I got vs and va numbers was with the ribbon between the logic and y-main disconnected. If connected the tv goes into protect mode.

I would feel better about shorting out pins if I had a picture of what pins. I see lots of people talk about doing it but couldn't find a picture.

Found the vscan and the ve points voltage on power up is correct -198 and 98 on start up. After 5 second the voltages begin to drop.

Newtothis said I need to remove the lvds cable. Which one I have 5 ribbons. Two go to the lower boards. One to the y-main, x-main and one to the video input board. I assume it is the video input cable he referred to.

You positive the panel isn't cracked?

Get a torch and shine it into the corners, even the smallest crack will result in this fault.

There's a pretty common fault on these caused by a bad SMPS controller IC on the Y-main, but it usually causes Vsc to stay low. Thread here, if you wanna try a quick check or two:

Well anything could happen. The tv would turn on every other time when I started this. I have not been able to see a crack yet.

Thanks tom66 I did read through that one.

Looks like multiple bad boards. ok up date. Bad y buffer board. I changed two capacitors for looks. They tested fine off the tv. All voltages were good. I swapped y buffer for fun and it fires right up.

All va, vs,vscan and ve all checked good on startup. Just for fun I swapped y buffer boards. tv fired right up. So I have 2 bad y mains and at least one bad buffer.
You should always be testing the Y-buffers boards for shorts before trying to power one up, especially if they came from a cracked-screen set since that is the most likely part to blow. (Not that they will always show a short if they are bad but it is a definite bad sign if anything is shorted.) You're lucky you didn't blow a good Y-Main board with a bad buffer board.

The Y-Mains are often easy to fix. Check the non-working Y-Mains for shorts in the power devices and if there don't seem to be any, verify that they do not have the -Vscan problem. Those seem to be by far the most common faults on these sets.

It is much easier with a working TV to test and repair anything that is an easy fix so you have spares.

I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
                                          by Ierwin
                                          Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

                                          Hi all

I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.

                                          Symptom:
                                          No picture no sound.
When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
                                          No sound at all.

                                          What I tried:
                                          1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon...

                                          Hello all,

This is my first post, but long term lurker on the form learning as much as possible about these TV's. I was given this TV as due to a power outage of constant On/off of power to TV. The TV originally would just click on and off (Typical Reboot Cycle). I opened the back of the TV, and troubleshooted by taking the 96 pin LVDS off one at a time to see if I had a picture on either side. I finally fixed the reboot cycle by finding the error on the left side of the screen off connector CN 1301, and the TV would stay on. Further troubleshooting led me to the driver boards where...
