Samsung LN32A450C1D will not turn on - steddy red light

Hello everyone. I picked up this TV off of Craigslist for free because it did not turn on. I brought it home and it worked AWESOME.... for about 6 months. Now its acting up. I go to turn it on and sometimes the light blinks once but nothing happens.

Here is an idea of my abilities- I'm not too familiar with repairing TVs, but.. I can read a wiring diagram and measure voltages. I can also soldier items on a board. I've replaced bad caps in a TV in the past but they were obviously blown... These are not.

I want to keep this CHEAP.

    Pictures of the boards.

Close up pictures of the connectors and any legend tables on the powersupply leading to the main board.

Remember caps can look good but fail, use a hairdryer and heat up the Powersupply secondary capacitors and see if it works.

If I am correct, it may have bad c102 on the main board, but cannot tell much until we get to see good clear pictures of the boards.

Funny thing is that I left it unplugged for 24 hours and it powered right up....WTF!

Here is a pic of the main board, I split it in half so you could see it better. I do have closer pics if you need them.

OK, this is not the same series with bad C102.
Try heating up the board with hair dryer to see if it will work.

Thanks for the reply. It works again after being unplugged for 24 hours.

When the set is plugged in after 24 hours, does it start-up on its own or do you have to press the Power Button for it to turn on?....Does it have stable 5vStby?.......I would test ALL the electrolytics, though...

I had the same issue but my standby light would flash. Same area same bad glue.

I checked out the area that you circled and I think you're right. The glue was dark in color at the top of that part. I also noticed that the solder was pretty weekly done. I removed, cleaned, and re-installed the part... lets see how long it lasts.

I would remove ALL of that yellow gunk myself. It's horrible stuff. IPA softens it, then you can peel it off with a knife, be careful not to damage the components next to it.
