    Vestel 17PW16-2 Fault Dead

As suggested above, The p/supply has issues...
The fault 2 begin with was a completely dead set, but the Fuse is intacked, and there is voltage on the primary side...
I have changed quite a few parts (c877 c878 c817 c892 c801 c901 & Q809. Ive also looked for dry joints, or cracks in the board, just 2 be thorough.. I HAVE Found thou, that IF you disconnect PL803 from the p/s, then the Backlights work?!!!
Can anyone shed any light on the matter?
    Regards in advance, A~BT

Update--- Ive managed 2 get a hold of a schematic diagram, and its the 5v s/by on pl815 that is missing.!!
Fingers crossed when I jump the voltage, the set will come on... 1

        3V3 standby present?
If so could be bad 78L05 small IC regulates ~12V stby to 5V.

Thanks for responding m8... Yes the 3.3V standby voltage is there on Pl815....
I didnt have any voltages on the secondary side, until i replaced a few parts that I got in a kit.. Now Im getting most of them, and the Backlight will come on, when i Disconnect PL803..!!

If so, check 78L05 for 5V STBY. refer to schematic if unsure, there is one under "OEM" on my website.

              Re: Vestel 17PW16-2 Fault Dead

Thank you for the response m8...
I bought a PSU reliability repair kit, which included !C829 the 78905 reg, and It also provided Q809 (BC337), along with a few other components..
The board that I have Doesn't have the 7805 reg fitted to it, so the transistor BC337 is the 5v reg.
Im getting some voltages on the secondary side of the transformer now, but weirdly, there isn't and hasn't been any standby LED 'Action'!!
But when I disconnect the plug I mentioned above, Im getting power to the backlights...
I contacted the manufacturer of the PSU kit, and he confirmed that their reliability kit is made for 3 different Vestel boards, so hence the left over 78905 regulator..
Im going to start at the very beginning, and see if I have overlooked something, or created any man-made faults.!
thank you again for your response,
              Regards, A~BT

Hello,I have the same power supply 17pw16-2 and I had main fuse blown ,after replacing many components I finally found the fault ,it was the bridge rectifier KBL10.
Could anybody help found a replacement please for KBL10.
                Could I use Gbu4m 4A 1000V ?
                Thank you.

KBL10 is 4A 1000V rating so what ever you use it should match the spec and lead spacing so it will fit into the board.

Lenovo M920Q - dead (my fault)
                      by meciu
So yesterday I was looking for a help because of "black screen" issue after BIOS flash.

I was testing different BIOS/EC dumps found on the Internet, and I've made a big mistake..

After flashing bios & ec - I've plugged mainboard only (with attached radiator) to the power adapter, and after a 1 second saw a smoke coming from motherboard.

Quickly disconnected power-supply and then I saw tweezers touching PCIE bottom pins

The smoke came from burned N-MOSFET PQ809 (SM2404NSANC), replaced it with greater NX7002AK N-MOSFET...

How can I be sure that my EC chip is dead?
                      by double_DD
                      Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

                      Panasonic SA-MAX770PU SMPSU board fault....
                      by Rictech
                      Hello everyone. 😀

As per thread title, this unit has a serious SMPSU fault. It blows F1001, which is a 10A M205 in the phase from the mains input.
Very first thing I tried, was simply replacing the fuse, but the replacement ceramic fuse blew immediately.

Looking at the schematic for this PSU, I then removed what I thought was the next likely candidate: D1001 - the HV main bridge rectifier.
This isolated the fault(no longer blows the main fuse), but does not point me to the actual fault.
There are no devices that have exploded or otherwise show signs...

Vestel tv, how to flip the image?
                      by France_53
Hello everyone from Italy, I'm here to ask for help on a Vestel TV, I've had a Vestel TV branded "XD" with a broken screen for years, but now I've found a Telefunken (still Vestel but older) and I've mounted the panel on the "XD" TV, it works, but the screen is upside down, given that Vestel does not allow you to rotate the image from the service menu, does anyone know how to solve the problem? the original panel is marked ves315WNDS-2D-N12 while the main board 17mb110, the panel I mounted instead in the tv (from the telefunken) is a ves315WNDA-02. ... It is not worth repairing...

ESR meter came to the rescue again today with a PLC I/O card fault
                      by sam_sam_sam
I have been having a fun time at work with two pieces of equipment that had shorted components or shorted component cables to machine frame
I would check what my multi meter was telling me about how many ohms I getting with the multi meter was telling versus the ESR was telling me about weather or not it really was a short to machine ground or not

One note at first we thought that it might be a bad I/O card or a malfunction PLC including me as well but I thought I would try and see if removing the I/O cables would make a difference or not and this time it did make a difference...
