vizio vw47l fhdtv blowing master inverter board fuse.

Greetings. I was troubleshooting a friend's Vizio TV that would turn on but had no picture. I noticed that the master inverter board had a blown ceramic 10Amp fuse. I ran a jumper cable across the fuse and the TV screen came on and worked fine. I replaced the fuse and the TV worked fine for a couple of weeks but then blew the fuse again. I replaced the fuse yet again but in blew again in a few days.

While the fuse was good the TV worked fine. Are there any suggestions as to what to check for to determine why the fuse is blowing or would a new inverter board be in order?

I have +24V at the input to the fuse btw.

That filter cap looks like the top is domed. If it is, do not run it again without replacing both caps first, same for the slave board.

      Thanks for the reply.

I'll go pick up the TV over the weekend to look at the caps. Would bad caps be the cause of the fuse blowing? Anything else you recommend I check? Thanks

Hello. Sorry to revive an old thread but it relates to this one mostly. I just got done replacing a few caps on this same tv and needed the same fuse in that picture. I am also attaching my own picture. The man at the tv repair place swore to me that it is a 1 amp fuse. It looks like a 12 amp is what is in place because it says Lf12A but the board says 10 amp 60v is needed. The tv repair place is also the place I brought this tv to about 4 years ago for repair. I put all of the new caps in and replaced the fuse. Powered the tv up, saw a flash from backlight, then black screen. Checked the fuse and it's blown. Obviously not the fuse that is supposed to be there

Question. What fuse do I put here (value) and where can I buy this so I have it as soon as possible? Can I just use a different fuse from radioshack and wire it in somehow? Do you recommend jumping it just to be sure?

Thanks guys and gals for all the help

Do you have a multimeter that can measure amps DC? Or AC?
Don't buy those $10 PSU "specials". They fail, and they have taken whole computers with them.

measured across the fuse and showed ~4.24. So this means it should be a 10amp fuse right?

It should be 10A fuse, you can use 10A 125 or 250V fuse in place for testing, but you need to check the power MOSFETs, filter caps (must be low ESR type, not general purpose), etc.

I placed a 10A 250V automotive fuse in its play. Well, not in it's place but wired into it's place. TV works great. I will order the correct fuse and fix it later. Thanks all. 8 year old TV is working again.
