    Panasonic Plasma TC-P54S1, Two Problems

Panasonic Plasma TC-P54S1 - Two Problems:
Problem 1 - No Sound On Only One Channel.
We get our TV Channels 'Over The Air' and all the channels are Digital. We use the built-in TV Speakers, no external speakers. Never had a problem before. Two weeks ago a new channel became available and we added it. Here is the Problem. It has no sound. It will show the Closed Captions but no sound. All the other channels on the TV have sound and this new channel has no sound. All the other TV's in the house, the new channel has sound. We have hit the SAP button and it only shows "Audio track 1 of 1" and no matter how many times you hit it, it does nothing. When you hit mute, the closed captions appear. Turn off Mute and it is as before, no sound. Have done numerous channel scans and same as before. No Sound on just that one channel.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Problem 2 - Just today while watching a movie, a barely audible spark was heard and the image shrunk to only the center third of the screen. Both outer two thirds were completely black. If you were to divide the screen into three identical size vertical sections, the left and right sections were black. The middle section, the entire image was there. Squashed together but there. It lasted about 2 seconds and it went back to normal. Has not done it again but, if anyone has an idea what it could be, would just as well prefer to fix it now before it happens again or worse, becomes permanent.

This Forum was great in helping repair this TV previously. Hopefully someone has an idea or the solution.
    Thanks!

Problem 1 sounds like a compatibility issue - probably not much you can do except invest in an external DTV box.

Problem 2 is not a fault, it is the broadcaster sending a signal indicating the picture should be displayed in 4:3 instead of 16:9 ... Likely someone pressed the wrong button in the studio.

What would the compatibility problem be? TV is digital tuner and all stations are digital? It is only one channel that has no sound. All the others work perfectly. Would it be the tuner itself then?

The shrinking screen happened again. It is not 4:3, we were actually watching a program that transmits in that format. It shrunk to only the middle third and then back to the normal 4:3. And, it happened after a spark sound on the TV. What board controls those three sections is what we are trying to find out so we can repair it.

          What parts were defective?
