LG 50pk550 2 vertical lines down left side

Hi all this is my first post although thanks to the badcaps community have
fixed about 7 tvs. Ok so with this LG plasma i have 2 vertical lines running
down the left hand side of the screen, i have tried the jumper test pattern
comes up but lines are still there. i have tested VA and VS at their test points
on the PS and here is where im not sure to go. VA reads 116-118 should be 60
VS reads 312-315 should be 204. Anyone point me in which direction to go.
The green light on the control board lights up then comes on and off intermitedly, oh and have tried reseating all ribbon tabs no help.

Bad plasma panel sorry. Vertical lines can't be fixed and are LG plasma's greatest weakness.

You are probably checking Vs/Va on AC mode which will produce incorrect results. Voltages that high would lead to fire and flames from the Y- and Z-sustain. (I'm guessing you're not seeing those.) Test Vs/Va on DC mode (and make sure your multimeter battery is good.)

Thanks Tom, ye had meter in AC . re test showed VA54 and VS 186. i wanted to make sure it was the panel as i've got another LG 50inch LG 50pg20d right along side it with a bad PS all the connections are the same and was gona try swapping over but didnt want to risk a good PS, think i will now ( Bummer i actually paid $50 for this one ). Thanks heaps reading alot of your posts is whats got me hooked

I would be surprised if they swap over, PG is a 2008 model, PK is 2011, at least the main board connector is likely to be different? Worth a shot I suppose, though.

I have had some success fixing vertical lines in about 9 lcds so far. Had to take off the top metal cover on the lcd and find the ribbons that sit closes to the lines and sometimes its in more then one areas.

I start light tapping the cables til where the screen reacts then use a piece of the rubbery material found under the plasma tv boards(its a insulator and conducts heat), place them on the cables with lines beneath them and put the cover back on ......1 out of 6 havent worked for me.. Sold those TVS and they havent been back yet over the past 5 yrs.

I attached pics of a RCA I'm working on now and used the same trick. I HATE THROWING OUT A PANEL IF ITS NOT CRACKED so I started playing around to see what could work. I have not had a plasma with that problem yet.

The sets discussed in this thread--Are Plasmas, NOT LCD's.....

Big difference and the same repair ideas will Not work with a Plasma panel.
