  • Re: Samsung LA55A950

I for got to mention when powering up the tv takes quite about 12 seconds to display a screen, also when I bring up the content section which is on the screen in first post the lines aren't there but gradually appear and I noticed that the standby light which does light up red in standby doesn't light up green when tv on, if that means anything

Well stripped tv right down and got to the ribbon cables from buffer board, checked all the leds while I was in that deep and all looked ok, taking the screen off was easy enough luckily having read other posts of them breaking and not having any help I basically got 2 broom sticks laid them horizontally across screen and gaffa taped them down then lifted screen out and back in holding the sticks. managed to find a T-con for $60 so guess that's next thing to try. Let you know if it worked soon as it arrives

  • Re: Samsung LA55A950

Hi guys apologies for taking so long \, moved house and its seems in this day and age it takes nearly 2 weeks for phone/internet to be hooked up. So I've taken the back off removed cleaned and replaced all tabs and ribbon cables even removed front bezel and applied pressure to screen tabs with no luck although the six running off the buffer board and along the bottom of the panel I'm not sure how to get to as i didn't see where they attached when I checked the 14 that run across the top. After pretty much hitting every component with freeze spray with no change,...

Hi guys any idea of the this problem, wont get a chance to pull back off to look things over for a cpl of days, thought I would throw it out there so I could get a jump on ordering parts if need be. Will update post in cpl of days with board pics and share any findings. Cheers...

  • Re: Sharp Aquos LC42D77X 2 short blinks

Well i've been looking everywhere can't find a pic of a blown backlight . Anyone tell me if I should try replacing inverter board or not waste my money. Thought about building a test jig like Bud has shown but don't have a spare PS and doubt I'll use it much. Any advice appreciated. Cheers

  • Sharp Aquos LC42D77X 2 short blinks

Hi fellas have a 42in Sharp Aquos with 2 short blinks on standby light. what I've read on cpl other posts is 2 short blinks is inverter/lamp error. This model has only one long inverter board and looking at it I noticed a brown burn mark. Closer look showed on back of board notice the arc hole just wondering if the lamps in picture are stuffed having that seeing they have that black little ring around them. My guess is Yes and its a throw out ?...

  • Re: Bridge or Short Circuit

Thanks for reply been close to 30 yrs since worked in industry perhaps bridge was terminology and I understand all components are linked to perform their task, just stuck on if it's designed as such or not. No definetly not a trick Might not be explaining myself right, in the pics it shows components that are joined how does one determine....

  • Re: LG 50PB2DR help running extra fans

Hey Chris check out Equipment Usage,Soldering,Techniques and Reviews.
Third page. Title; Desoldering Trouble , Pad Repair Questions. I think it makes sense and a technique worth considering especially if damage to pads and tracks through prolonged periods of heat at a singe point is the main issue. The board and components reach a peak of 200+ degrees while travelling through the reflow oven ( worked as a SMT, programming component placement and producing populated boards) and By starting with an overall constant temperature of say 100...

  • Re: LG 50PB2DR help running extra fans

Hi Chris thats the funny thing it hardly gets warm and yet after 10/15 minutes the sound goes it was only when I put a fan over the ysus that it ran all day. Fans are only 5x5 cm pulling those chips and heat sinks can be quite the task and worry about being up for the whole board, read a good article on here about heating the whole board up to 100 dgs in oven then using wick. Anybody else can point the way by all means feel free

  • LG 50PB2DR Sound stops after 10 min

Hi guys my latest curbside collection a 50" LGPB2DR (the power cord and remote with batteries in it where at the bottom of a cardboard box stuffed with broken kids toys ) Anyway powers up sweet then after 10 or so minutes the sound goes. Following Tom's guide (Great job Tom invaluable info ) seems the heatsinks aren't absorbing the heat as they should causing the IC under it to heat up and fail. To test this was the case I opted to point a fan at the two heatsinks and 6 hrs later no problems working great. I know the heatsink needs to be removed and fresh paste is required but without...

  • Panasonic 60inch Smart Tv

Hi guys any suggestions on possible cause, it's a 7 month old Panasonic smart tv. Can't confirm exact model yet but the tv was purchased in Australia if that helps. Not claiming warranty for a tv only 7 months old leads me to think it may have been knocked over. Could a dislodged ribbon cable be considered ? Will post pictures when I get it home...

  • Sony Bravia KDL46XBR

Hi Guys fell off the wagon and tinkering in the garage again, wife said if I did she would leave me Gee I'm gona miss her. Anyway currently got this Sony 46 with coloured vertical line issue checked other threads all quite extreme to this so hoping its a fix, Initially got this quality picture first time I powered up which cleared after couple minutes but was left with three small coloured lines two on right and one on left of screen. From what i've read on here if it is a tab bond their accessed from the front of tv taking bezel and glass off, So have I got a chance and am I tackle it right....
