Panasonic TH50PX70BA 10 blinking lights help

    Hello,

My sister gave me the above TV with the 10 red lights fault code and was going to get rid of it but thought i'd take a look at it. I've managed to repair a LCD TV before but not a plasma one.

So the red lights occur when i plug in the TV but don't even switch it on using the button. I hear relays clicking as soon as i plug the cable in the some 2-3 seconds later it shuts down.

So i managed to get a service manual for the 10th gen chassis from a TH50PX77U which looks similar and followed the troubleshooting guide but with two diagnosis'. I disconnected connectors A5, A6 and A7 and without the power button pushed in the TV did not self turn on with a white picture so it says P board fault. i also then pressed the power button and again it shut down with the same error SOS10.

I then connected A5, A6 and A7 again but this time on the SC board pulled the SC2 and SC20 cables and the TV remained on with a solid power light when button pressed. So my question is do i have a P board fault or SC board or both?

Any input from the members on this great forum will be much appreciated.

I should also mention that I have checked all fuses including thermal fuse on P board along with the thermal fuse on T201 which tests open so is good. i also tried freezing the Tea1610T boards MC201 and MC301 but this didnt make a difference either.

I would check across the SC board power connector for a short circuit, using a multimeter on the ohms range.

Hi Tom66 your website is great and is where i got the technical manual from.
I will check later on tonight if there is a short. Can these SC boards be repaired and finally if my SC board is knackered should I be checking the buffers as well in case it was in fact them that blew the SC?

The SC boards can be replaced and there are a few on eBay in the £30 range.

Generally the SU and SD (buffers) do not affect these SC boards; a short would cause a 7 blink error code.

Yeh I've seen them cheap but wanted to double check the sc board was faulty first.
So I put black lead on pin 3 and red on pin 1 and get 578 ohms

Hi Alastair e, yeh it seems so however I'm not giving up on this board. I've tested a few diodes and transistors and some are definitely short. I will make a list of components and their readings for other people to see and inspect on their unit.
The sc board in question is the TNPA4186 TXNSC1HMTB (AB).
Just so I've got this right which lead goes to drain on fet negative?

If you've repaired a piece of power electronics before by all means go ahead and try to repair it, but do be aware it is likely to be a complicated repair and it may well not be worth it. (Parts cost will likely be £15-20)

For quickness i have just purchased a new board, however once I swap them over and TV is OK I will begin to identify the failed components and make a list here for all to check on there boards if same problem

                    I now have SOS7 instead of SOS10.
I will have to buy replacement SU and SD boards now as I powered the Tv up without either connected and no blinking lights, but a solid green power light :-(

Any chance someone can help me identify a short on the SU board TNPA4188 TXNSU1HMTB. I've Left the SD board connected and tv shows white bottom half of screen and stays on finally, however I've tried using continuity mode on multimeter from a ground pin to the test points and all 4 are fine also tried the same ground to all pins on the 4 connectors to plasma ribbons and no shorts either... So a little confused atm

So my replacement SU board came fitted it and same sos7 light error. What now?
Also my old SC board that failed had loads of faulty transistors and diodes so was definitely cheaper buying a second hand board

Great I'll look at the video and advise.
The screen is free from cracks and the bottom comes on white and stats on when su board is unplugged. Hence me buying a second hand unit from emos, so presumed ok...

Just to clarify... You say there were loads of shorted transistors and diodes on the old board... Did you test them out of cct aswell? You will find that many will show a short but as you remove bad components the shorts will go away.

No tests out of circuit yet however looking at the schematic some are in parallel so some may be ok out of circuit

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.
