    LG: DT-42PY10x "issue with colours"

    Hi,

I picked up this plasma off the side of the road (why not)

And it worked OK! Bright colours and no burn in.
It started out with sparklies on certain colours, or strangely only in the background (hooked up a Game console) but they went away after a few mins of warm up, and ran for a few hours for a proper check.

Later when i went to watch a movie i noticed its come back, and worse now with whole colours being strange.

    Attached pics of issue

    Funny colours

Ive gone through the "plasma troubleshooting" sticky, hence the sparklies part. But to little avail.
Ive checked most voltages i can find and tweaked them, all correct but no difference.

There are stacks of adjustments though, (-Vy), (Vscan), ect. Which i can find both the pots and test points for (usually across a resistor or something) But no info on correct voltages.

The set is now OK on switch on, then after 30 secs colour definition degrades, almost the opposite issue. Makes me think an issue with things changing as it warms.

    Any pointers?

    EDIT:
After turning off and re-seating all the little Y ribbons on the left hand side, it now looks like this

And after it has run for a bit the screen goes purpley.

    Cheers,

    Alex

I've now found if I twist the set sparklies/purple may disappear or appear, so thinking a connector or solder joint (god I hope not)

I've got the main board off and I'm down to the individual connectors cleaning and touching up with CRC contact spray. Found another 3 adjustments pots too.

All fuses and voltages are Ok as far as I can tell. (Va, Vs, 5v, 12v)

Any pointers at all? This is the first plasma I've opened up and aside from the guides I've read I'm pretty well flying blind.

Samsung Plasma TV Power Supply Issue
      by lp20th
I have a vintage 2008 Samsung 50” Plasma TV, Model code PN50A550S1FXZA with a power supply part number BN44-00222A. I repaired the power supply board several years ago finding a couple of cold solder joints on the back side of the board and it's worked great up until now. Recently a fried sound occurred with the smell of burnt electronics and the TV shut down. Trying to turn it back on yielded the typical relay clicking with no TV boot up. Upon investigation, removing feeds to the other boards within the TV it was found that disconnecting the logic board from the power supply allowed the...

Samsung 59" plasma PN59D550C1F seeking advice on mystery power board issue
      by Cooperr
I picked up this TV from Facebook Marketplace, original owner described it as "screen went black after a pop" and I hoped to see an obvious fuse or cap to replace. Doesn't seem to be the case, but my experience and electrical knowledge are kind of limited for this.

The power board (BN44-00445A, see attached) turns on and Vs and Va seem to momentarily have power, then they steadily drain to zero over a minute or two as if they're only getting power from capacitors. I've been measuring Vs and Va from the test pads, with and without the other boards connected to the power board...

      NVidia bumpgate

Just archiving everything related to bumpgate since most stuff has disappeared from Google. Maybe people will finally take the time to read some of it and stop shouting "reflow gpu" at every occasion but rather try to understand what the real issue is…
Interesting parts about the failure analysis are "Why Nvidia's chips are defective" and "Why Nvidia's duff chips are due to shoddy engineering"

May complete this post at a later date with more details.

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
      by rounin
      Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

      🛠 Original Issue
      The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.
