Samsung HPS4253X/XAA SG04 Black screen with sound

This is the second time this TV went out. I've decided to fix the TV myself this time since the place I took it to last time charged $230, and after reading up on it a bit it seems that is an over charge since all they did was replace the power supply board.

I have a Samsung HPS4253X/XAA SG04. It turns on for 2 minutes then the entire screen goes black at once, not in vertical lines. It still has sound and the menu does not show up with the remote. It smelled like plastic was burning. I assume it was the melted plastic disc on top of one of the caps. There are no other bulging caps other than the two in the picture. Could the problem just be the blown caps?
    Thanks.

I would look to see exactly what the repair shop did. If they replaced those caps, then there is a chance that the caps they purchased were poor quality. Happened to me and I spent a week scratching my head until I broke down and bought caps from a reputable source.

the capxon are original, samxon most likely what were replaced. kinda strange they only replaced 2 unless they were hoping for some premature repeat business from you?

May be worth getting 4 brand new of a decent brand.

I concur.. If those caps are bulging I'd start there and replace all four. Probably controls vs voltage output.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Sorry. I would've posted back sooner, but after the first email that newtothis replied I deleted it and didn't get anymore after that and I couldn't find the thread.

They didn't even replace the whole board like they claimed they did? We just paid them $230 to replace 2 caps? They must be getting rich paying themselves $220 an hour. I'm definitely never using those guys again.

The problem was just those 2 caps. It's been working fine now. I'm glad I didn't just buy a t-con board after seeing that was the most often solution to the sound but no video problem.

I did end up accidentally pulling out a pad, but I just put it back in used plenty of solder and it's working fine.
            Thanks!

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
                  by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

Sony XBR-75X950G seems dead with a black screen but backlight and sound is working and no blinking red lights
                  by Audeze
I have a 2019 75" x950g, and while playing a movie, the screen suddenly went dark in a weird way, where it faded towards one corner into being fully black. Now the TV turns on, and the backlight comes on, but there is nothing displayed except black. Sound still comes through the TV speakers, and i have tried doing a hard reset using the volume - and power buttons while plugging the display back in, but it did not fix it. I can confirm that pressing buttons on my remote is still doing "something" because I'm hearing sound still, even though the screen is black.

                  Does...

LG 43UF640V backlight good but black screen and no sound
                  by totof
                  Good morning.
I have a problem with my LG Smart 43UF640V TV. It starts, the backlight comes on but nothing is displayed on the screen and there is no sound.
I thought it was a TCon problem and ran various tests. If I disconnect one or the other of the cables from the tcon to the panel then the screen is white on the side where the cable is disconnected and black on the other side. If the two cables are disconnected the screen is completely black.
In the 4 configurations I measure exactly the same voltages on the tcon card (model V15 43UHD TM120 Ver0.4) :

                  Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

70LE660U dark cloud or black screen with sound.
                  by Rozp
                  Hello Everyone,

This is my first post so I will try to be as precise as possible without making this post too long winded. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the original problem but I included images of the TV internals.

I have a Sharp 70LE660U. The problem started a few months ago with the bottom row looking out of sync and was dark on the left side and then fading to transparent on the right side. Shortly after, a dark cloud appeared in the center of the screen. The dark cloud started small and shaded but the image was visible. It also affected the menu area....
