Hello All. I am troubleshooting a DP46849 that has sound and picture but no backlight. I am reading 1.96 volts dc at BL_ON when the tv is turned on. I also noticed that the led on the front only lights when the power is turned on. I expected their to be a red led when the power is off. Any ideas?

I think that voltage for a BL_ON signal is borderline too low. What if you try pulling BL_ON high with a resistor?
Try disconnecting the BL_ON line to the mainboard, then pulling it high (to 5V rail) with a 500 Ohms or so resistor. Connect the resistor after the TV has powered up.
Do the backlights come on then?"Tantalum for the brave, Solid Aluminium for the wise, Wet Electrolytic for the adventurous"
