Ok, I'll add some things to look for assuming these can fail the same as the 4782. Plus I'll need to refresh on your original findings since there's no schmitt inverters or 5v regs replaced

Everything I replaced was shorted accept q402 and q403. I did them just for good measure. The driver ICs, I don't know if they were shorted or not, but I know it's proper procedure to replace them with the other components.

yep, mine had issues with Ic521, R521,522 were burnt open cct, also meant IC561,562 were blown and Q551 was a casualty, will take me some time to analyse the 2 boards.

I'll check those resistors when I get up. Got to get a few hours of sleep now. Thanks for the help.

I found that not all the IGBTs short across all 3 pins, some only showed short across 2 pins, had to check all combinations of the 3 legs.

P-fet can blow open cct although I've found thses will run with that faulty open cct. have a close look at the casing and see if it's cracked.

Will do. I bought one of those Andonstar USB microscopes last week, it comes in real handy for inspection. Wish it had a couple more inches of focal distance, but I am able to solder under it. Well worth the $60

you love your toys, I should get more gear to make life easier.

Here's my list from 2 boards. I've had a quick look everything i can see does correlate to the 4844 location, parts and cct wise. Some of these I just replaced and were probably ok. My first board did go from 6 to 7

                Q661 RJP6065, shorted_. Used RJP63f3A
                Q660,601, RJK6026 ... 1 board only had 601 bad, used STP10NK60ZFP
Q818 2SK3018, used 2N7002, probably ok but I always do this one
                Q702 2PD601 was short,
Q701 MMBTA92, not sure so replaced
                IC773 TC7SH14F was shorted Vcc-gnd(41ohms),

                Q441,451 shorted

Replaced all 78L05 regs, IC771 was bad, IC724,725 seemed ok
                Replaced all TC7SH14F _ IC773 bad , others looked ok, IC464,465,564
                Replaced TC7SH00FU - IC691 NAND, was ok i believe
Replaced IC521 M81707FP,was bad used M81737FP which is same pinout higher current output
                Replaced Q551 was bad
                R521,522 burnt open
                IC561,562 damaged, only 500ohms pins 10-20 (bad)
Replaced D618,652 ..shorted, track at d618 burnt open cct needed repair
                D608 12v zener open cct
Q604 open cct, casing cracked open
R613 47K burnt, was open cct

I bought one recently and yeah they are great, I agree a couple more inches would be great as I inspect BGA work and the extra couple of inches would make it a lot easier!

I'm going to try to make an adapter lens sometime. I definitely recommend it. I paid about $35 for one of the cheap ones first, waited a month for it to arrive from China, and 5 minutes after I opened it, it found it's way to my trash can. The image quality was horrible, like 1st generation cell phone cameras were, and it literally had to be 1/8 of an inch from what you were trying to inspect. That made it absolutely worthless. The Andonstar is pretty good though. Amazing image quality and, albeit close, there is enough room to solder under it. Field of view sucks under the higher magnifications, but well worth the cost. I've thought about trying to make my own from scratch someday.

I won't be able to get back on this TV until tomorrow TW2005. I have a couple other projects I need to get out of my shop so I'll have room to work again.

i would add Q701,702 , 818 to the list. I was wondering why SJ had a count of 35 and this only had 34

also these can get taken out when ic521 shorts out

                            thanks for this list.

i have a 4782 on the bench currently.
was 10blink (shorted across sc2), tried quick fet replace only to re-pop 661 and got 7blink
will post my final list of dead parts soon. (q661 x2 + a mess of smd burn-outs)

what is the test method for ic501 and 521?
I have hot air and can remove them.

I just replaced them, just in case they were damaged by the other components. My TV is still sitting in my living room waiting for me to get back to it. I've been so busy with my work schedule that I haven't had time.

will post my final list of dead parts soon. (q661 x2 + a mess of smd burn-outs)

what is the test method for ic501 and 521?
I have hot air and can remove them.
just replace them , you might want to recheck the buffer boards now that you had half a go at it just in case. I managed to destroy sd/su boards along the way.

There's a lot of parts to look out for in this and now that you did a partial there's a risk there's bits outside the normal damaged

buffers pass resistance check(they all tested .5m to 2m higher than the chart) and are staying unhooked until the blinks go away.

is the SJ kit the best place to source all of these surface mounts?

service manual tells you, but if you're concerned pull it out and retest. there's only 114ohms across mine, so my diode check gives me a double beep but 114 ohms will give a contiuous beep on my fluke

Finally got back to this. Was really dreading it, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. None of the components I replaced before are bad. Still took me about 3 hours to locate everything on your list.

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Bought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.

Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner...

                                        Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

                                        Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                                        Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

                                        Hello all,
As the title states, I followed the troubleshooting guide located here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/23...page=53#manual, which concluded the 'A' board needs to be replaced. Looking around the net and eBay, I see that there are repair services for the board (TNPH1043UE? Not sure if it is a 'UE' as the suffix grid does not appear marked). What additional troubleshooting can be performed to ensure 1) this board is the problem and 2) since there are repair services, what are they fixing on the board?) I expected 3.3V not to be available anywhere...
