Re: Panasonic TC-P42S1 10 blinks, bad SC maybe solved.
I was working on it yesterday actually. The last of the parts came in a week ago. Remind me never to order anything from again just before the Chinese new year. Replaced all the parts in my list, got some colorful flashes on the screen for a few seconds, then it went dead again. None of the MOSFETs blew, but I think maybe the driver ICs failed again.

well, I have a working 4782 which I figure i may be able to correlate some check points. Nothing blown and shutdown with what blinks?
Re: Panasonic TC-P42S1 10 blinks, bad SC maybe solved.
Oh, and I've done the same re: Chinese new year. yes a lot of interest can be lost waiting.
I found that some different parts subbed work too like M81737FP will be ok for the 707
I never thought to check the blink code. I'll try it again tomorrow. I know I must be close.
ok, another night of boredom for me then
I would stick to the SC50 jumper, disconnect buffers , remove their Vfg bolts (4)and not use the buffers for testing for the time being. I killed my SD/SU set doing something wrong I guess on the G15
I didn't have those vfg bolts in when I tested. Could that have been the problem?
yes, no Vfg bolts and TV will shutdown 7 blinks. made that error rushing putting a 5081 in my TV. Probably very risky running any board unearthed.
that earth point is floating ground, not chassis, needs to be earthed with respect to those on the SC board
Do the Sc50 procedure and if it stays on, Sc has passed. We've been checking the MID volatge which was Tom's tip to sort our boards out as all the other voltages checked out. generally 50% of Vsus
Leave those 4 bolts off the SD/Su that mount to thos posts on the Sc, Disconnect all connectors (3) to the buffer board.
small white connector with 2 pins marked Sc50, short those pins together.
have everything else as normal, I trust the Sc is fully mounted and bolted , turn TV on and if it completes it's start up as normal no error blinks / shutdown then that's a SC pass.
only do it long enough to confirm, leave it running too long and set will shutdown with 4 blink and the guides say no longer than 30 secs.
You'll need to let the Sc fully discharge otherwise there will be arcing as you hook up the buffers.
Re: Panasonic TC-P42S1 10 blinks, bad SC maybe solved.
I learned about that arc a while ago on a different Panasonic. I think I almost jumped through the ceiling. As loud as it was, I was surprised it didn't blow the pins off the board.

Sure, but just trying to warn you of the chance of shorting the buffers which kind of ruins the party once you get the Sc going and realise you need to spend $$ on a buffer set which i expect are geting scarce. I got very lucky and a guy was stripping his 50G15.
Scored the dead Sc and 2 good buffers for $40, SC is reapired so a vluable item.
