            Re: Lg 50pv350t

What's that white stuff? Dirt or actual damage?

Most of the metal on the contact is still exposed, so it might make sufficient connection.

Does the TV work at all with XL removed?

the white stuff was a bit of dirt
i have put the cable back into the main board and it turns on fine now on the side of the tv where the XL has been removed i have a white stripe the length of the XL but the rest of the screen is dead

                Re: Lg 50pv350t

all along the the base where the TCPs are is green mould so im thinking its got damp along the way but slightly confused she told me the tv was just clicking or would the XL have been causing this ?

                  If Va was shorting, maybe.

but i think ill check around the TCP that connects to the panel first for more corrosion before ordering one

                          Ouch, late to the game!

Yeah, that's going to be a hard fix, as Tomm66 has stated you might be able to cut that ribbon down and insert it in. the TCP driver ribbons do have some room for flex.

I think the seller knew that happened and that's why it was in storage or someone watered her TV and didn't tell her.

My guess is your going to spend the time and money on a new board and fix and that portion of the screen is going to be hosed! Not trying to be negative I hope for the best but that ribbon has a clear and present burn damage from some sort of liquid.

Also make sure when you do insert that freshly cut ribbon into that slot that you have cleaned it out thoroughly as any soot deposit might cause sparking and do more damage.

yeah i know what you mean Shinju but i think for £13 its worth a shot, but the confusing part is i have just stripped the screen and all ribbons look good apart from the damaged one which i have now cut back and i cant see no corrosion at all so maybe something else on the tv made this go bang

Do you still get white part of screen when you disconnect the XL?

That's possible.. Check LVDS for corrosion? Any sound from TV? Power cable seated to main board properly? Also check for corrosion on pins of processors and connections on the main board.
