VIZIO E552VL has mirrored, glitchy display

A friend of mine brought this TV over and said that it had been looked at by sears or some other "professional" and they said the "panel was separating" or "the layers are separating" or something like that.
we plugged it in, and it looked fine for about 30 minutes, then it started freaking out.
heres what it does first: the image appears to be mirrored along a horizontal axis in the middle of the screen so you just see the top half of the screen in the top half, and the bottom half is just the top half again but upside down.
better you see it for yourself:

and then after it does that for a minute or two it starts doing this:

actually after looking at it closer, it seems like in the first video the menu is not being mirrored along any axis, its just upside down..and backwards?
oh and there used to be sound but now i get nothing.

so is this indeed some kind of panel failure, or might it be TCON or Motherboard?

the no sound and the strange backwards letters in the menu make me think main board

could only find one main board for sale on ebay:

    and its 193$ ...ouch!

guess i better check the voltage regulators at least

could be tcon, can't be certain, if you aren't the testing type, tcon might be worth trying, depending where you buy, they can be maybe 15-35 bucks, good luck.

and of course, its over 100$ to gamble... would be totally worth it if i was sure that was the problem.
