I guess we won't know unless the cap gets tested, still good to see a win

tw2005, The cap showed no signs of being bad, no leaks or bulging. Will recap the low voltage ones on Y main also, doing the PSU right now, (hope I have all the right ones).

Tom I reseated all the LVDS and power cables to get the curtain of black when I first started, although I may not have reseated it properly the first time.

I will say after taking out the PSU someone had changed 6 2200uf 16v caps on the cold side already, even used Sanyo caps. So I guess the "Tech" did try something.

Thanks again for the help will post an after pic when done recapping everything.

Finished PSU recap. Will do Y main tomorrow. But as promised....Before https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSewl8OINrA

        And after https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mB9i...ature=youtu.be

tw2005 I don't have an ESR meter to properly check the 680 cap. I did put my meter set on 2k across the leads once removed and got no reading. Tried all settings and still got no reading. I know that doesn't tell much.

It looks good, nice feeling, makes you realise how much waste there is in the world.

Strange thing, but first time for everything. I got a Sony DP50747 and I had it for a while. Working on it today and reading these post I found this one decided to swap out the 680 cap. I think it worked but I will never know for sure because when I powered up the TV there was a big electric snap/pop and I saw sparks come out from the edge of the panel. Blew the fuse on the X-SUS board and I replaced it but now all I get is an LED on the PS blinking 3 times. I am assuming this TV is dead.

sounds a little crazy and coincidental. any pics? was the cap put it with the polarity correct?

Re: Sanyo Plasma Display Problem Dp50747

Yea, the cap was put in right. There is no charring where the sparks came from so a pic wouldn't show anything. But this is the first time I seen sparks fly from the screen, and man where they strong, could have melted a screw driver.

I think I found my mistake, the ribbon cable at the very bottom of the screen, on the X-SUS side. The small board that comes off from the X-SUS board. The ribbon cable was loose. I think that is where the spark came from. So I removed the X-SUS board and it seems I burnt up more than 4 transistors. Being that the board is cheaper than replacing the parts I am going to order one and try it again. This is a word to everyone else, don't make this mistake.

well, glad you figured out your mistake. i was thinking reversed cap or maybe shorted a buffer ribbon. never seen or heard of sparks flying off the screen.

Re: Sanyo Plasma Display Problem Dp50747

Well lets hope the TV is still good. I got the X-SUS board off of eBay for $24.00 so as soon as I receive it I will give it a try and post what happens. I have about 50 TVs I have to fix but I ran out of room so I am looking for a bigger shop or warehouse. And my frind has about 100 TVs so we might get a shop together. Of course if we get a shop we might have 2,000.

Well I got the replacement X-SUS board today. It was not working so I replaced that 680 cap and it made a difference. Now the TV turns on and shuts off in about 3 seconds but the screen does not light up. Going to read another post and see if I can figure out why. I guess I may have damaged my power board.
