    vestal 17pw16-2

this board looks good, from the top.
the bottom is not so good,
as can be seen in pics, i have a blown ic.
    what i need to know,
anyone with an idea what markings it should have ?
if so, where can i get one ?
or could i even just swap one from another vestal board ?

        That is the PFC controller.
Most likely, you will find the PFC MOSFET is also shorted.
This is repairable with the schematic.

        Replace Q803, IC802, R823, R977, R829, R830, F800.

        Check D824.
Check C819 as it could be bad causing this failure.
Check ohms across C814 with IC802 removed, should be several kohms.

"Bulb test" the board before properly powering up. PFC should work ok with backlight inverter removed and 100W series lightbulb.

(NOTE: Schematic shows "IRF7314" - this is COMPLETELY wrong! IC802 is FAN7529.)

Yep, that is the chip. You will have to replace the other parts too because that kind of damage only really happens when the FET shorts...

the guy said, that the tv went off when he pull an HDMI cable out,
he said he see sparks, and then tv would not turn on,
got standby light, but won't power on, just standby dims when trying

i have changed the main board, as i had one here, what a bit of luck, just in
case it was that, before i even checked the power board,

Even if the main board was at fault I would not leave it like that. The PFC circuit is there for a reason, without it the set will intermittently power on (dependent on the mains voltage at any given time, <225V AC and it will usually fail.)

Im having issues with the exact same board, but I have a different fault...
The set wont come off standby.. I have replaced ovr 15 parts (All new) to no effect...
Altho a few of the voltages have came up, the 5v standby voltage is still missing...
                    Any ideas..?
                    Regards in advance Aaron
