    Panasonic TH-50PZ77U 7 blink code (SOS7)

I'm getting a 7 blink code (SOS7) on my Panasonic TH-50PZ77U 50" Plasma (set is likely similar to the 42" TH-42PZ77U). The SOS7 code generally indicates a problem with the Y sustain circuit (i.e., the SC, SU and/or SD cards).

    Here are the current symptoms.

If I run the set with the SC (Y sustain) and the SU (upper buffer) plugged in and the SD (lower buffer) unplugged, the set works with a picture on the top half of the screen.

If I plug in the SU and the SD cards without connecting the ribbon cables from the SD to the plasma panel, again the set works with half a picture.

If I plug one or more of the 5 ribbon cables between the SD and the panel, the set shuts down after a second or so with an SOS7 code.

When I power on with the SD card plugged in and cabled to the panel, sometimes the set tries to put up a picture (you can briefly see an off color image), but then the set goes to SOS7.

I tried two different SD cards and the set worked for about a week and then failed with the same symptoms. I don't see any obvious shorts on the SC/SD/SU cards.

When the SOS7 is triggered, the set goes into standby mode and more or less shuts down, so it's difficult to determine the underlying cause of the shutdown.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what might be causing the problem or what I could do to isolate the failed components? Could the problem be in another part of the set?

Ribbon cables are connected correctly? Did you try ( if you have spares) a different ribbon cable?
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

The ribbon cables I'm referring to are the ones connected to the plasma panel. Those cables are permanently connected to the panel so there's no possibility of swapping them out. The only other cable connection is between the SC and the SU card and that cable is attached (soldered) on the SC side.

So you are saying it doesn't matter WHICH cable you put in... but any one in the SD board and it shuts off?
Did you try all single-ribbon combinations?

Sounds like to me an intermittent plasma-panel short/fault killing the buffer-boards.....

Look over the affected area VERY closely, Any black spots on the panel or damage to any of the screen-tabs indicates issues. You may have to de-case the panel to check properly.

I'd agree - but only if it affected only one ribbon... Sounds like it's ANY one ribbon and it'll shut down. Chances of five ribbons all having the same failure are slim IMHO...

Yes, any one ribbon seemed to be shutting it down, at least that was the way it was working yesterday. This morning, I powered up the set and went to double check this. I connected one ribbon cable after another after another, checking the set after each ribbon cable was in place. After all five cables were in place, the set was still running perfectly and has been working fine for the last several hours.

I guess I'll just enjoy watching the set until it decides to fail again. Last time it worked for a week before it died.

panasonic TX-P50V10E 6 blink led problem

                Hi everyone,

I'm new here and trying to repair my Panasonic TX-P50V10E plasma TV, which is currently showing the 6 red blink error code.

Just for context: I'm used to building PCs and installing modchips in old consoles, but this is my first time trying to fix a TV. I'm French, and while my English is okay, I'm using ChatGPT to help translate and clarify my messages as much as possible — so please forgive any odd phrasing.

I'm also not very experienced with using a multimeter, but I'm very motivated and ready to follow instructions carefully and report...

Panasonic ZT60 plasma tv with strange behavior and 8 blink code
                by cloo
I recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.

So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...

                Panasonic TH-42PZ800 8-blink error mystery
                by nervx
Years ago my tv gave a 7 blink code which turned into 8 during diagnosis. I had ordered a replacement ss board but somehow the tv started working again and i never used the board. Now a week ago my tv flickered and shut off at random and gave the 8 blink error code. The same issue it had all those years ago. The only difference this time is that over the last few months there has been some purple and green tinge that comes and goes in more solid colors such as white.

Anyway i checked all the screws and replaced the ss board with a known good one and still got 8 blinks. I saw a...

                (Another) 7 BLINK TC-P60VT60 Panasonic - NEWBIE

Greetings from SoCal I am new to this forum but not new to forum world. I come from Automotive end of side which is my main passion in life. Give the automotive nature, I love fixing and restoring things and I have in the past fixed many simple electronics, soldering, etc.. but this is a bit more involved so I found this forum, and I am very glad I did.

I picked up a Panasonic TC-P60VT60 with the 7 BLINK error.
Upon removing the back plate I found spider webs, dead spiders, and an amazing amount of dust. I did my best to clean the surface of the boards with a portable vacuum...

Panasonic Plasma repair - TH-P60GT50 - Dead, 3 blink code
                by rmacintosh
I aquired this Panasonic 60" plasma around the time my first child was born. It was meant to be a project tv, hoping to fix it chipping away at the repair in my free time. Well that was 2 years ago and i'm really just getting around to making a sincere effort to see if I can ressurect this beast.

The symptoms of the tv ar as follows:
                • Plug AC in to back of TV
                • After about 2 seconds the relay on the P-sub board will click on and then a fraction of a second later it clicks back off
                • The 3 blink code is given by the power LED
                • If the TV is unplugged and then
                ...
