My 55" Samsung LED TV stopped working. The screen does not power on. There is no sound. The indication light blinks in twos.

I would appreciate any help in diagnosing the issue -- what to do, what tools I need, etc.

    Thanks very much in advance.

    35.5 months old, (LOL)

I think if you do a search on UN55D6000 there's a few threads with issues, backlighting seems to be one, mainboards another.

I have a D7000 with multi channeled LEDs and one is open causing localised loss of lighting and endless reboot. not what you described but have a search and read what's already out there.

I think with the LED panels you can pull the mainboard to ps cable, plug the set in and the LEDs should illuminate. I have only had a few LED panels and they all turned on so I weeded out the ps as the issue.

I know this works for the ccfl Sammys.

Yes with this model you can force backlight on by removing the mainboard to power subbly ribbon cable and powering up. Report back.

Thanks for the responses. I am going to devote a few hours to this tomorrow. Just so I am clear, I am going to disconnect the cable going from the Main Board to the PS.

By PS do you mean the board referred to in the attached documents as the SMPS Board (or IP Board)?

          Thanks.

I found the attached documents, which are for similar model(s).

          Thanks!

And those docs are not helpful for the D6000, at least where the backlight is concerned. Just remove the cable and power it up.

                Re: un55d6000sf

Two more facts to help diagnose:

When I got back home last night I plugged in the TV, and the screen went on for about a minute or two before shutting down again. This was the first time I tried plugging it in after it was unplugged for more than hour. Perhaps something reset?

Regardless, it stopped working. I tried this again this morning, but did not get the same reaction.

I just unplugged the ribbon cable connecting the PS and the other board. I unplugged it from the mainboard connector.

When I plugged it back in, I did not see any LEDs illuminate. The indicator light did not even go on.

Here are pics of the back.

                Thanks!

On page 3 of the manual found at the following link, it says that a jumper cable must be inserted into the cable ends to activate the back light. That manual is for a different model. Not sure if that is relevant.

                  Thanks.

                    Re: un55d6000sf

So as I read more through this site, it appears the issue is probably the PS because (i) the LEDs did not illuminate when I disconnected the cable between the PS and mainboard and powered on; and (ii) the screen actually came on last night, albeit briefly.

                    Does that sound about right?

I was going to order the board (bn44-00424a) from newegg, which has it in stock. Shopjimmy is out of stock.

If that sounds right, do I need any tools (besides a screwdriver) to remove old and install new PS?

Thanks very much for help with this.

In my opinion given the number of LED array failures on this, it's more likely an intermittent or bad LED in the panel. This is repairable but is a right pain in the ass to do as the panel will have to come apart completely.

That would definitely be above my pay grade. Even if that is more likely, seems worthwhile to order PS to see if that fixes problem. No?

                        Thanks.

I would order the power supply , if it does not fix the problem you can always sell or maybe even return the power supply.

                          I would try that first!
You don't need any other tools , maybe a anti static wrist band but just be careful. Its like a pc , plug and play
If you are lucky the cable's/boards have numbers on it and its easy to see which cable goes where!

I installed the new PS, but, unfortunately still no video.

I need to find a decent repairman. I assume Geek Squad is out of the question.

Anyone in NY area have any recommendations?

                              Thanks.

its been around 5-6months since i left this board on side to rest my brain cells and now came back to try and repair it again.

The laptop in question has issue where it gives error code on power on which is 2red and 3 blue

In short, by Dell specs this means "Memory not detected: "

Now one important thing the laptop would turn on fine when i leave it in the refrigerator for 5-10min and i could work\play games with it for days and months as long as i dont turn it off

In recent months the screen has been getting more and more dim. If that was all, I'd suppose the problem would be the backlight (LED? LCD?). But I've noticed this really weird symptom: switching to the EPG screen restores normal brightness! And then, even weirder, when I go back to the programme, for a moment the programme is at normal brightness and over the next 1-2 seconds it gradually dims down again.

Last time I looked in a TV it had EHT flyback, so I'm no expert. I do sometimes repair computer monitors and power supplies, most often when there's bad caps.

The fault is a flashing LED as if it is in upgrade mode that happens after a few seconds and stays forever. The shop sent me a flash drive to plug in a USB port but that did nothing either and they said it was dead which is disgusting for a piece of solid state electronics. The first time it happened, it took me a long time to find that the FPF2281 over-voltage IC for that USBC input was at fault.
