You may have already considered this, but maybe the remote isn't set up for that TV. Is it programmable? Can you borrow one with universal capability and try to set it up for that TV? Maybe someone has a DVD or Satellite Receiver remote that has a TV or AUX output you could try to program for your TV.

Do all the buttons on the TV itself work?

OK, do you have an oscilloscope available?
Try locating the IR receiver and check it has 5V or 3.3V supply.

Can you post a picture of this small board? IR sensors typically look like this:
                http://i.lnwfile.com/_/i/_raw/om/jg/tw.jpg

You should see some varying square wave (on a scope) when IR signal is received on one of the pins of that device.

Right hand device with three pins. Check pin 3 for Vcc (3.3V or 5V) with respect to chassis ground (black on the chassis), and pin 1 or 2 for signal using a scope and pressing buttons on remote.

Have not found a manner to open this remote without a hammer or grinder.
So far as I can tell, there is no manner to decently open it and remove oil from the contacts.
Any secret technique would be welcome.

DeLonghi AC Remote only accepts 3V
                        by cstout
Hello all, I've been looking into this portable air conditioner's remote control and can't find what could be causing the problem - or possibly this remote is just terribly designed.

The remote only works at exactly 3V - if I drop it any lower, using my bench power supply, to say, 2.9V then the remote will not flash the display and turn off. I don't have any AAA batteries that are exactly 1.5V each so I'm not sure if this remote is designed this way - to only use the freshest possible batteries, or if there's a failed component in the mix.

                        I can't find any schematics...

                        Sony KDL-46HX850 Can't upgrade/update firmware
                        by dkneyle
Diagnosed this TV as having a failed main board which I've replaced with one from a KDL 55HX850. They are (supposedly) the same board.

Being 'Smart TV' it requires a firmware reboot when you swap out boards such as T-Con or main board. It starts with a black screen and flashing yellow and green LEDS, indicating it needs that firmware boot. The procedure described all over the web is to put the software into the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB drive and it should load that up once plugged into USB1 port. But not for me. I can see the LED on the USB chip flash for about...
