    Samsung LN40B530P7NXZA Polarized Picture Problems

Hello, I recently saved a Samsung from the junkyard. The picture is polarized in strange colors. There is a horrible ghosting effect between screens that does eventually go away. I posted pictures of the Test pattern screens. the Logic Test Patterns did not work at all. The TV did nothing but show static with the OSD showing the number of which pattern should have appeared.

I do not have a DMM at my disposal until tomorrow to test the t-con board but I figured Ide get the ball rolling with pictures to get some general suggestions from you guys.

I searched around and saw a lot of posts that pointed to the one chip on the t-con board but I did not see a lot of posts on the ghosting issue.

    Thank you guys!

an easy place to start would be to check F1 on your t-con board. smd fuses are always a good simple test for awkward display issues like this. Do you know why the tv was scrapped? Lightning, random issue, etc.?

The fuse is good otherwise you will not see any pictures on the screen. You should check the GAMMA Voltages (VGMA 1~20), this is one of those AUOP T-CON boards that commonly have problem with AS15 GAMMA REF. Voltage IC U21.

I couldn't find all the points to test. Regardless the results are obvious. It is a bad chip. And on top of that I accidentally touched the chip and burned my finger it got so freaking hot. What were they thinking not sinking that chip?

        1 - ?
        2 - 2.35
        3- 2.4
        4 - 3.3
        5 - 3.68
        6 - 4.14
        7 - 4.45
        8 - 4.7
        9 - 5.47
        10 - 5.48
        11 - ?
        12 - ?
        13 - 6.67
        14 - 6.65
        15 - 5.27
        16 - 4.84
        17 - 4.27
        18 - 3.3
        19 - 2.6
        20 - .62
        21 - .48

When replacing the chip is it better to put a layer of the thermal compound pads or leave that cover off and heatsink all the chips that have pads on them?

I purchased 2 chips and either the first one was defective or I screwed it up because the second one worked like a charm. All the colors are back as if it was brand spanking new!!!

Thanks for the follow-up repair. I buy 5 at a time and never get all 5 good ICs.

Re: Samsung LN40B530P7NXZA Polarized Picture Problems

what happens when the IC is good and the voltages (gamma) is correct and issues is same as polarized pictures on the screen. is it possible it might be the connector running from the TCON to panel chips?
sorry for the question I'm just learning. it a nice thread
