Removing STK ICs off heat sink

Tried everything to get the convergence ICs off the heatsink but no luck thus far. Would it be easier to just remove the heat sinks or does anyone have another idea.

What set is this from ? I recently drilled two 1/4" holes through the bottom of an LG Zsus to gain access to the screws holding the heatsink on the stk module. Came off easy after that but I would imagine you need to be real careful about where you're drilling

its from a hitachi 42" rear projection tv. The heat sink looks easy enough to remove.

The heat transfer compound is gluing it to the heat sink. remove the solder on the pins, and make sure they are completely free. Or you can cut the pins off. Then I used a screwdriver and a small hammer and broke it loose. Then clean the heat sink (i use denatured alchol) put dew coumpound on and re-install the chip.

Use a thin flat blade screwdriver or a knife and stick between the heat sink and the ic, start near a corner not the middle of the ic. It should pop off. (you did remove the 2 screws right.. just checking)
