    Sharp 46D64u Blinking power light

Hi guys i picked up this tv that i know i paid way too much for but now its slim pickings since everyone seems to have gotten into tv repair. Any Who this tv has physical damage to the right side bottom of bezel in the form of a hole and split indicating its been dropped on that side and also did not come with a stand. the screen appears to be ok but when i power it up i get a flashing green power light 1 flash every second. if i go to service mode i get a quick flash od the screen where i can see hdmi on the top right then it goes black again with steady light.. i read all the threads on here referring to sharp tv's and am thinking since it dropped it has a few bad ccfl's i do see a couple dim lines on the screen when the quick flash happens. but there was another member who saw the same thing and his issue was inverter boards. so im at a 50/50 cross road and would appreciate some help in diagnosing this.. Thanks in Advanced

You may have broken lamps. If you roll or move the TV from side to side, do you hear anything rolling inside the panel?

You mean the diameter. You need one of those digital caliber, that is what I use, good tools to have for checking cap dimension also.

I am sure there will some good one in there, plus you will have spare boards, so for $50 is not too bad.

The 46" it's much simpler than my 65". I had the same symptom as you, but I had the master boards replaced and it's working now, but I still have a weird issue with it. It looks like every second tube is not lit up. I can see brighter lines where the tubes are on. I will have to take it apart, to see exactly what is going on, but it is so big and heavy(...and I'm to lazy).

so are you telling me it should have still lit up with bad tubes? i mean mine were broke not just bad. i was under the assumption if u had any bad ccfl's it would go into protect mode like its doing

We have different situations. You should get those tubes and see what happens after that.

Update: so i picked up the other 46 with smashed screen and found 3 broken bulbs the rest lit up for the half second... i then install 4 of those bulbs into the 46 im repairing and BOOM the tv powered right up. this made me happy.. and Budm u were correct both tv's have the exact same boards in them so now i have all boards as spares and 15 bulbs..
this is now my personal tv and will be replacing my lc42d64u
