Panasonic Plasma TCP42X1 Won't Power On!

Greetings, got a Panasonic TCP42X1, was told it wont turn on after being left on for several months by mistake.

Have not done any testing myself yet, can't confirm problem. Any known problems with these?

Problem is correct, plug unit in, hit the power button two clicks, waits a few secs then one click to off, then the LED just starts doing a slow steady flash. No signs of life from the screen.

Do you know how to use a multimeter? Are there any bulged or domed capacitors in the TV power supply?

The red led should blink a number of times then pause and repeat. How many times does it blink?

Ya I have muilt-meter, skills are rather limited. Caps all look fine to me. Voltage from PSU is 193v on the board shown with the muiltmeter and then 173v & 193v on the orther board.

How long of a pause? It will blink pause blink pause. Need me to shoot a vid of it?

EDIT: Voltage will hold for a few secs, then drop out quickly after the relay clicks.

Sounds like 1 blink, A board. Maybe corrupted boot flash/EEPROM, which would mean a new main board. Video of blink may help.

Is it a single flash, pause of 3 secs, single flash, etc, etc, etc

Sounds like SOS 1 which is A board, normally

A board or main board, meaning the board with all the inputs on it?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                          Assuming...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
                          by Alicat
                          Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                          Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
                          by PantherDave
                          Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                          Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

PANASONIC TX-P42X10Y Plasma TV damaged after a power spike
                          by tofik
Hello, I have an PANASONIC TX-P42X10Y Plasma TV, purchased new in 2009.
Unfortunately plasma is not working at all after a power spike. Standby LED is not even working.

I did some quick tests, YSUS + ZSUS MOSFETS and IGBT's are free from shorts, diodes on these modules seems to also be fine, buffer board is free from shorts as well.

Anyway I focused mainly on the PSU, did some voltage tests with the results as below, I attached them on the photo (also please see attached PDF with the SERVICE MANUAL for this model, page number 43).

                          I understand...
