As above, I have an LG 50PC1D with a picture issue, well, no picture at all accept for a white fuzzy screen or a scrolling block on other AV channels, I'm quite sure from my research that it's the IPMs on the Y-sus but how do I test to be absolutely certain?

Re: How do I know for certain that an IPM is bad?
SUS-IPM faults cause shorted Vs or blown fuse. Or in rare cases, a picture works but it flickers randomly, and a ticking is heard from the ER-IPM (this is probably the ER-IPM breaking down internally and a sign that it will pop soon, which may or may not damage the SUS-IPM at the same time.)Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: How do I know for certain that an IPM is bad?
OK, so I've removed both the Y-sus and what I believe is the X-sus(opposing board), I've measured both IPMs on both boards and as far as I can tell they are fine, no shorts to ground, I'm not totally sure I've measured them properly so some help here would be appreciated. The buffer boards look fine from a visual point of view so yet again, how can I measure these to be absolutely certain? thanks again for the help, Andy.Comment

Re: How do I know for certain that an IPM is bad?
Thanks, had a check and they measure normally. So I think the IPMs are OK, I'm not getting any shorts to ground except for the pin marked "NO", but if I use this to check all other pins then the numbers go back to normal readings, this is the same for both boards. All fuses are fine, no burnt components, PSU powers up just fine, so????? could the boards running along the bottom have some thing to do with it?Last edited by Dang; 08-22-2014, 12:42 PM.Comment

Re: How do I know for certain that an IPM is bad?
I was thinking along the same lines as Tom. A pic would be handy. Could try isolating the lower buffer, run just the top one and then vice versa.
If you do, there's a cable that interconnects the upper and lower buffers together, disconnect that and the relevant cable from the ysus.
From memory these are a pain to work with, if it's the same setup as the 50PX5DComment

Re: How do I know for certain that an IPM is bad?
Thanks, the design will only allow me to run the top buffer alone as the signal cable is attached to that only, I'll give it a try now. I'll get some pictures too and yes, I think the design is the same.Comment

Re: How do I know for certain that an IPM is bad?
I must thank you again, one thing I thought was OK from the start, considering I had a full picture, were the buffer boards, I've disconnected the bottom buffer and I now have a good picture, albeit in the top half. So now my question is, how do I check the buffer board properly for a short? I've tested all the fets and quite a few of the other components and all seem fine to me(the fets test between 100 to 150 ohms), could it be a bad screen maybe or if this were true would it take out the buffers and Y-sus? thanks again, Andy.Last edited by Dang; 08-22-2014, 02:43 PM.Comment

Re: How do I know for certain that an IPM is bad?
The FETS should read O/C....
Only between S. G. may you have a lowish reading--but even then its usually about a K or so....
So--If you've got a vertical band that moves depending on picture content--The FETS are stuffed.TELEFIX

by Tr0llHi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.
The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.
Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.
First replacement T-con:
I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)... -
by JJAAMMThis was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.
Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode... -
by TR103Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
- sound and backlight, but no picture
- when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
- it keeps rebooting
- without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
- when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered... -
by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -
by CyberPhoenixHello, Last week I bought the 50" Sony X80j tv everything was working fine, untill I plugged the tv in a ups power supply 650va the tv remote control became unresponsive and the TV became laggy after a while the picture quality isn't the same as before the tv seems less brighter and the picture is somehow blurry, people's faces don't look as natural as before, there is a mini orange-pink tint to the edge of people's faces especially in NETFLIX Dolby Vision like in One Piece ep1 Alvida skin tone, my intention was to protect the tv but something went wrong I checked the ups with a multimeter,...
