    Digistar LC-4010D Dead

I didn't take any measurements went straight to the power supply which is of excellent build quality. I found the main filter cap (Jainghai 450v 150uf) cover bowed out but it still measures ok on my esr meter. I meant to cut the plastic off to verify if in fact it is venting but ran out of time. I know some caps have a kind of raised cover but this shouldn't look like this should it ?

Try pressing the disc down. Will it go down?

Will try in about 4hrs at work atm. Does anyone manufacture them this way ? Would sort of defeat the purpose of getting a visual indication...

The plastic cap is insulation. Prevents a single fault insulation failure from electrifying the chassis. I doubt the manufacturers care...

The large filter cap had 165v across it but I replaced it anyway. Later I pulled back the platic cover over the top and the top of the can was perfectly flat. Nothing wrong with it.

However there was a 22uf 50v cap nearby that tested funky in and out of circuit. Replacing it brought the tv back to life.
