Philips 42PFP5532D/05 blue light only, 7 blinks on PSU LED

Nice one from Gumtree this afternoon - blown fuse on power supply. Replaced the fuse (after checking for shorts - none found.) Diagnostics LED on PSU flashed 7 times indicating a fault with D5V. That is just the first voltage in the chain that is fired up, and that fails immediately, so the set faults back to a 7 blink error. Note main power light does not show an error code.

The set will start and run with a dim image with a bulb in series too, which is nice.

Picture quality is decent; not stunning, but pretty good. 720p 42" Samsung panel.

a nice easy fix tom ive never owned any philips sets will you keep it a while on test before you sell it i tend to repair a set then use it as a bedroom tv etc for a week or two to make sure no intermitant faults show up. Ive just looked on gumtree some good bargains to have, but as ive got about six sets here to sell i cant really buy anymore projects at the minute lol (also my cars due mot soon and ive got to strip and repair the diesel pump so thats going to keep me busy too).

Philips sets are pretty decent and nice for repairing - shame they've gone the way of a rebadge merchant now with their lower end sets but they do at least make some higher end models themselves. I usually test the sets for a couple of days before advertising and give the buyer a 30 day no quibble return guarantee.

LED/LCD, plasma is a lot harder to shift.

yes some good bargains regarding plasmas on my local gumtree as people cant sell them i guess hardly worth fixing the older types now then if cant make a profit although gaining the experience in fault finding and repair to component level is always worth doing i guess.

I had one of these with that Samsung Psu (video to come soon) failed Fet on the Pfc boost converter however it didnt blow any fuses but cause the D5v going to the control board not to work lol gave 7 blink error as well.
