Vertical Coloured Lines Samsung 40" LE40R74BD LCD

    Good Afternoon all,

Got my hands on a Samsung 40" LCD HDTV Model number: LE40R74BD, the screen has Vertical coloured lines all over. (History of unit unknown)

Opened unit and gave it a good check over - PSU had been previously repaired (Few caps changed) and noticed another 2 needed changing (Both swelled - 1000uF 25v x2)
Upon taking the PSU out of the unit to replace I noticed burn marks on the rear of the panel, turns out one of the Transformers
looks to have shorted to the rear of panel.

Changed the 2 swelled caps and redone the solder joints on the previous cap replacements.

I have inspected the boards all over and can see nothing else obvious.

Mounted some new standoffs to make sure there where no way of the tranny to short again! (Also stuck some Capton tape on the rear of the screen where short had occurred.)

Tv still displays the same Vertical coloured lines all over.

Powers up with little start up tone then lines appear - Does anyone know if the panel is gone? (Pics to follow)

Any help/guidance would be much appreciated, oh and amazing forum by the way! (First thread..!!)

Ooh that's ugly lol. The two black areas make me think the panel is toast.

I would sya the panel has likely gone but it could be the tcon or the cables that
fo to/from it- try reseating them or see if it changes if you press on them.
Check any voltage regulators on the tcon.

I have seen a similar, but slightly different fault on this model before (only a few vertical lines with no image at all), which was caused by a bad voltage regulatos on the T-con board.

Failing that I would agree with bad panel.

Thanks guys just read your fix on the 2.5v LDO reg on a similar unit tom66. Sometimes the two bold dark lines disappear making me think the panel 'might' still be ok, going to go over it again tonight check all regs on the T-Con, failing that I have found a replacement T-Con for buttons.
Will report back any findings later tonight or tomorrow.

              Thanks

Thin stable coloured vertical lines on Samsung UN65NU6900FXZC come and go
                by polaro
                Greetings,

I've bought a used Samsung UN65NU6900FXZC LED TV. It worked fine for some time and then developed, at first, a single very thin (1 pixel) vertical stable blue line, from top to bottom, close to the left edge of the screen. Now it's 3 lines on the left. When I connect HDMI sources the number of the thin lines grow. After disconnecting and cold discharging I am back to 2 lines. The lines disappear at a rate of 15-20 minutes per line. So it does not look like a damaged LED panel. Any advice? Thanks...

                Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
                by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

                Samsung UN46C8000XFXZA vertical bars/horizontal lines
                by x_orange90_x
I posted about this previously but didn't get any response, and I have some troubleshooted a bit so I have more info.

The screen is full of horizontal "gaps" or lines that distort the picture badly, and after about 10 seconds of powering it on the screen starts to fill with red vertical bars that take on the horizontal pattern. After the screen filled with the red bars, they instantly vanished and then slowly started to reappear. I initially thought it was tab bonding failure, but after getting down to them and pressing each one I find zero change in the picture. I went...

Samsung 55" UN55JS9000 - Pink vertical lines due to chipped LCD panel?
                by Anonmis
Hello all, I was recently repairing my Samsung 55" UN55JS9000 tv from the common burnt backlight LED's and cracked light guide panel issue. After replacing the LED's and putting the TV back together, I tested the tv and all I was getting was sound but no image. Somewhere along the way (could be related to the next issue) the T-Con board became damaged and after replacing it I have made a little bit of progress but now have bright pink vertical lines and still no image.

The bigger issue .... I took the TV apart again and realized that I likely didn't sit the LCD panel correctly...
