    Emerson LF320EM4 A after surge

Hello everyone, I have an Emerson tv that recently got damaged due to a lightning strike. It has picture and sound but I heard a buzzing sound coming from the back. i opened up the tv and traced it to a blown capacitor. now I have no expeirience with electronics, but the field had always interested me. anyway I am trying to find a replacement capacitor but ant find the values on the capacitor itself, I dont think. I hope the picture helps. Thank you in advance for any help or information.

The values will be on the other side. CARE when handling - set off and unplugged - even then you should test across the legs with a multimeter on volts DC 600.
    It is probably 100uf 400volts

    They are usually glued down?

Yes, it is glued down, any tips on removing it without damaging anything? By the way, thank you for such a quick reply and the information.

A small amount of force prying on the non-lead end should free the cap from the glue. The only caution in that is to not damage the board with the tool used to pry it off.

Why do you think it's bad? Those rarely fail. If it's buzzing, the rectifier may have one side out Check the voltage.
Set meter for 600V, check across the two pins. Be careful NOT to touch any of the heat sinks as they will be hot and can give a nasty shock!!

I should have posted a pic of the bulge in the capacitor, also leaking.

Hahahahahah - yes you should - at least you dont have to worry about
damaging it - just snip the legs and it might twist off the glue.
As it has leaked you should clean the area up with Ipa

Also perhaps test the rectifier - in case it has been damaged.

That's a 330uF 200v general purpose cap, should be easy to find and inexpensive. I agree you should check the rectifier and also check that fuse, F602.

Going to check both, it seems that there aren't really any stores that stock capacitors, looks like everything is online, lol. Does that seem about accurate?

200v - must be just made for the US market.

Hmm there doesnt seem to be an actual rectifier on this board it is 4 diodes
Please can you post a good clear picture of the top and bottom of the board
using manage attachments jpgs less than 3mb work

And make sure to get the 105 degree version for longevity the 85 degree is obviously not rated high enough as it vented.
