    Samsung PN59D6500 2011 board questions

If Vsc should be -197 is -208 bad and where can I check Ve?

What makes the buzzing noise on these tv's?
Just replaced SMPS, Mainboard, X and Y-Main with supposedly new parts from a tv with cracked glass and the buzz is much louder than before.

What are the temps I should be seeing on the hotter areas of these?
Using an infrared thermometer some parts are 130-140deg. F on the Dynamic picture setting.

Can damaged boards cause damage to other boards?
I want to swap some boards out to test them, is this a bad idea.

    I just read this tv shares it's parts with these models: PN64D7000, PN59D7000, PN51D7000, PN51D8000, PS59D550, PN51D, PN59D and PS51D, PS59D.

Re: Samsung PN59D6500 2011 board questions

Buzzing noise comes from two places, the main SMPS transformer for the Vs, and the sustain board ER inductors. Sometimes dried up varnish causes it. I've also had loose screws on the sustain boards and case of the TV cause this fault.

-Vsc that high might cause a higher black level, but should not cause any harm. Ve is on the X-main sometimes marked Vb.

Perhaps Tom will correct me if I am wrong but I think I have read that cracked glass on a plasma can cause damage to boards.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Yes it can in particular the Y-buffer board - usually the Y-main and X-main survive - so I would not use the Y-buffer board in the cracked set.

When you say higher black level you mean more light = brighter, or more black = darker?

The buzzing is so loud I'm thinking about buying yet another Y-main.

I got the boards from an unused tv with a cracked screen and because the guy turned on the tv to "test" it the Y buffers are bad. So if I try to fix a board and put it on the tv to test it I don't have to worry about it causing more damage?

Where is the buzzing coming from precisely? Try locating it with a toilet-roll tube. My Kuro buzzes - mostly from the transformer on the SMPS.

Probably the ER inductor. cardboard tube is a good tip, I will try it when I get home. I was thinking about using a 1/16" peice of aluminum tube to see if I could feel the vibration but I like your idea better.

Any thoughts on my other 2 questions? And thanks for your time by the way.

Definitaly the ER inductor, used a paper towel tube to isolate it. I can hear it 20 feet away with volume at normal level. Is there anyway to reduce it?

Can you supply a photo of the ER inductor on your board?

That is not the ER inductor, it is the Y-Main voltage transformer which generates -Vsc, Vsch and FG15V.

Ok, got that pic from another site where someone is giving bad info. You didn't mention this part before, is it ok for the Y-Main voltage transformer to buzz this loud? Can I swap it with my old 1?

Are all the tv settings on the main board? Will removing the main board erase all the settings?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                              Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Upgrading a Samsung ue55nu7096u with logic board from an ue55ru7105k -- good idea?
                              by ohren
I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.

I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.

The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively....
