Re: Is there a good way to wire fans to turn on with tv?
Right, the tv almost seems to move as much air with the fans off as with them on. I think the reason it's cooler with the cover off is because the tv is near an A/C vent that is on most of the time.
Tried with and without rubber feet and the screws loose and tight but there is not much difference. I think 1 of the fans is a little unbalanced and it is being amplified at a large unsupported area of the back cover....

Re: Is there a good way to wire fans to turn on with tv?
After 2 weeks running 2 thermister fans at about 50% I have decided they are too loud. Fans unmounted are really quiet but when screwed to the large, thin back cover they create noise. With the fans the temp is about 110 deg F. Without them it is about 150 deg and with the back cover and fans off it is about 130 deg.
I don't have kids or any random people around this tv so is there any reason why I couldn't just keep the back cover off?
Is 150 deg F ok and I am worrying about nothing?

Re: Is there a good way to wire fans to turn on with tv?
I can't find any fans that turn on and off based on temp so can anyone here tell me where I can hook to my SMPS without any problems? I don't even know if there is a 12v source and I don't really want to use any resistors on the 15v and I don't want the fans on all the time if the tv is only on around 30% of the time.

Re: Is there a good way to wire fans to turn on with tv?
Thanks for the suggestions and comments.
This was my first plan but after looking at a few schematics I decided this would be too time consuming for me to build. After thinking about options and more searching I found these fans that should work well. They come in 80mm also.

Re: Is there a good way to wire fans to turn on with tv?
If it doesn't really matter if the fans are on top or bottom i will put them on the bottom. I'm surprised I can't find much info on this, my tv can't be the only 1 running 150 deg F. The few examples I have found online were to "rigged" for my liking. I can't find 12v on my SMPS but 15v should be fine as long as I use a fan controller, I'm just worried about load and interference.

Is there a good way to wire fans to turn on with tv?
Is there a good way to wire fans to turn on when the tv does?
Is it better to have fans blowing in at the bottom or blowing out at the top?

Are all the tv settings on the main board? Will removing the main board erase all the settings?

Ok, got that pic from another site where someone is giving bad info. You didn't mention this part before, is it ok for the Y-Main voltage transformer to buzz this loud? Can I swap it with my old 1?

Maybe I can swap the 1 off my old Y-main....

Definitaly the ER inductor, used a paper towel tube to isolate it. I can hear it 20 feet away with volume at normal level. Is there anyway to reduce it?

Probably the ER inductor. cardboard tube is a good tip, I will try it when I get home. I was thinking about using a 1/16" peice of aluminum tube to see if I could feel the vibration but I like your idea better.
Any thoughts on my other 2 questions? And thanks for your time by the way.

Re: Samsung PN59D6500 2011 board questions
When you say higher black level you mean more light = brighter, or more black = darker?
The buzzing is so loud I'm thinking about buying yet another Y-main.
I got the boards from an unused tv with a cracked screen and because the guy turned on the tv to "test" it the Y buffers are bad. So if I try to fix a board and put it on the tv to test it I don't have to worry about it causing more damage?...

Samsung PN59D6500 2011 board questions
If Vsc should be -197 is -208 bad and where can I check Ve?
What makes the buzzing noise on these tv's?
Just replaced SMPS, Mainboard, X and Y-Main with supposedly new parts from a tv with cracked glass and the buzz is much louder than before.
What are the temps I should be seeing on the hotter areas of these?
Using an infrared thermometer some parts are 130-140deg. F on the Dynamic picture setting.
Can damaged boards cause damage to other boards?
I want to swap some boards out to test them, is this a bad idea.

Re: Samsung PN59D6500 Service manual
Since I can't edit the main subject line should I start a new thread when I have a different question?
Can I unplug any cable or board without causing any prolems when I turn power on as long as there is no power when I do it?Last edited by davep911; 07-29-2014, 05:44 PM.

Re: Samsung PN59D6500 Service manual
Thanks, I saw the fast track guide last week and it helped me diagnose a bad SMPS but I have a new SMPS and other problems are keeping the tv from turning on. Are there any tv's similar enough to this one that I can use the info to test boards?

Re: Samsung PN59D6500 Service manual
I am mainly looking for directions on how to diagnose each board as a whole so I can replace it because I don't have time to test each component on the board. I am assuming that's how repairmen go about it these days but I can't find any info at all on this tv other than how to test the main board.

Samsung PN59D6500 Service manual
Where can I find a service manual for this tv? Just got a supposedly new SMPS and X-main but I don't want to damage them.
