    Samsung LN40B530P7N Picture Issue

I've combed through the relevant guides and posts and I'm pretty sure I'm looking at a failed tcon board. This isn't the infamous AF15G, so I'm leery to jump to the conclusion that this is the problem. It started with horizontal lines of all colors scrolling up and down the black areas of the screen, then I started to get some inversion (not sure what to call it, looked like a negative of the picture) and now I just have horizontal lines scrolling up and down the screen. You can still watch the tv, but the black areas all have these lines and the picture itself is much less than great. On a blank no input screen, it is all scrolling lines and all behind the menus. The IC on my tcon board is AS19H1G.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Kevin

Further research leads me to believe that the tcon is ok given that my menus are fine. I've checked all analog and digital inputs and I get the same thing.

Is it possible that it's the main board? Any way to test these without a scope?

I would say Main Bd since you can get the OSD showing OK or normal. I think the way to check this is with a scope to determine if the LVDS signals are being generated from the Main Bd and reaching the T-CON Bd since it could be a LVDS ribbon cable problem, too.

I'm getting a fairly loud buzzing/whining sound from the t-con, I'm not sure if a faulty mainboard would cause this or if this is a sign of a bad t-con board. Given the lack of availability on the mainboard, I think I'm going to gamble on the t-con and see what happens. The fact that menus are working fine concern me, but this buzzing sound certainly isn't right either.

So I took the plunge and ordered a new T-conn board from Ebay.... Ironically, my picture looks like this now (classic T-conn board symptoms from what I gather). I reinstalled my board just to be sure I was seating cables properly, etc and it still exhibits the same symptoms as before.... In my simple mind, beings that the symptoms changed, I found the problem (or part of it), now it's just a matter of getting a good part.....?

Well hold up, that might need to be a panel adjustment in the service menu.

TV off, MUTE and press 1 8 2 and power on the remote.

There should be a setting in Option Byte with the LVDS options PDP, JEIDA, VESA. (also make sure to have something playing in the background on HDMI 1) helps you see the changes made if any.

write down your settings before changing anyting once you change something you cannot go back (factory reset) you are programing your panels EEPROM. If you go back and set it to what you had before that will work.

If the VESA deal doesn't work try changing the panel type if you can.

Can you take some VGMA Voltage readings on the test points of the T-CON board?

I don't think this is a gamma fault myself.

You sirs are geniuses... I have poured over many of your posts in my research and sure enough, Shinju was right. I really appreciate you taking the time to help out a lowly troll/leach/knowledge seeker.

Also, I'd like to note that I don't have the common failure chip (I believe the common failure is an AS15). My particular IC is a AS19-H1G. Google didn't bring up many of these as being a problem child, but their ebay-availability leads me to believe that these fail also.

                  Thank you again.

Glad to hear, so what setting did you end up with the LVDS setup?

My particular settings was in "Control" ----> "Sub Option" -----> "LVDS Format" and it had to be set to VESA.

Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                          Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                          First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

                          Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                          - sound and backlight, but no picture
                          - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                          - it keeps rebooting
                          - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                          - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and
