pdp42v18ha - Turns on, no picture, no response from buttons

    Hello,

I have a pdp42v18ha (Viore) that powers up, the screen brightens enough to show it "works", I get some red sprinkles in the upper area of the TV. However the TV once powered on does not respond to input buttons, IE wont power off, wont change input, wont change channel, no menu etc. I have to pull the power to get it to turn off.

If I leave it on for ~20 minutes or so, I eventually get a bright blue picture (on channel 60). After another few minutes, the screen goes dark, I hear a relay click a few times and the process repeats.

I was told by a local repair shop that the main board is most likely bad (due to the TV not responding to button commands). Just trying to get some second opinions before I buy the board. I also removed the power to the sustain boards, the TV powers on, but I still cannot turn it off by the power button.

I checked all the caps on the board (visually), none are bulging or popped, they all look good.

    Thank you all!

Any luck with this? I have one doing the same thing. But, if I unplug mine, then plug it back in, it will work fine.

I was thinking that too. Could it be a bad MOSFET on the main? Or bad caps?

to me, it sounds like the BGA on the CPU has failed. reball or replace is the two ways to fix that. i could be wrong, budm might say something else.

But if I unplug it, and plug it back in, it works fine. The issue only seems to appear if it's been off for several hours.

I bought another TV from a guy 2 days ago, and he turned out to be the original owner of this one. Evidently I bought this from his cousin. Well, according to him, it's been doing this for a couple years.

I'll pull the main and check the caps for high ESR later.

I'll try freeze spray on all the ICs when it's on. Maybe something isn't making contact when it's cold, but is OK after it's warmed up and expanded. I suppose that could be a BGA issue.

Haven't had much time lately but I pulled the main board and did find 2 bad caps. Haven't checked the rest for high ESR yet.

I replaced those 2 bad caps and I think it's ok now. It comes right on without a problem. ESR on those 2 caps was 30Ω and 34Ω.

Nope, not fixed. It works fine if I turn it on from the power button, but if I use the remote I get the little sparkles and the buttons become unresponsive. But also, once I unplug it, and plug it back in, then everything will work fine, including by remote. I think I should have recapped the entire board.

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)

Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                              Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                              First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

LG 32LG3000 TV, three red light flashes, then the backlight turns on, but no picture

Hello everyone! I've found this television, and I began troubleshooting it.

First, the television kept rapidly power cycling. I've warmed up the capacitors with a hairdryer, and after 3 dimmed red blinks, the backlight turned on, then turned dim, and no picture was present on the screen.

I believed that this was caused by a bad power supply producing insufficent power (I've measured 3.5v on the 5.2v rail), so I've blindly recapped the board.

After the recapping, all the voltages stableized, however, the issue in the title still remains.

                              I could...

                              Hello ,
The issue with this set is that it turn on just fine and after a minute or so the picture shows either vertical lines or turns half black and from that point on starts a boot loop.
If a let the unit to cool down for a minute the same pattern starts again. i had exactly the same mainboard as a spare and replaced it but nothing changed.

                              Any ideas what to check?...

SAMSUNG UN55KS9000F picture fades then distorts into vertical lines after 20 seconds
                              by JJAAMM
This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                              Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

                              - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                              - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                              - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.
