Hi guys, have this sony with no picture. It powers on, after about 15 seconds, backlight comes on but no picture (i was told it had sound but i have not heard it for myself). I checked psu voltages and all were in spec, 12v was a little low at 11.56, but it did not drop further than that. I checked the power regulation IC (ISL976) on the TCON which was supposed to supply the voltages needed for the TVCON board and found it only put out 3.3v, Avdd was at only 11.56, and Von and Voff were both at 0v. I ordered a new TCON and nothing changed, same voltages. I uplugged the connectors going from the panel to the tcon and the voltages come up. looks like the ribion cables from the TCON are a little melted. Faulty cables or bad panel?Thanks!

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I have a VIZIO E70-E3.
Symptoms: Black screen, no picture, but LED backlights are working.
I probed the power board and voltages are as listed on the board.
Main board appears fine, too.
I believe the problem is either a bad T-CON board, or connection to LCD, or bad LCD.
There are two separate ribbon cables feeding the LCD.
If both are connected, the screen is black.
If only the ribbon cable that feeds the right side of the screen (when viewed from the front) is disconnected, the left side of the screen shows picture and... -
5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. The TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?...
