    Panasonic TH-37PX70E 10 Blink

    2007 Panasonic TH-37PX70E 10 Blink
Service manual says PA-Board or H-Board or DG-Board

The TV comes on for a while (about 30min.) then shuts off. If I turn it off and on again I get the 10 red blinks from the power light.

When it does turn off the power light stays green, and so do the LEDs on the SC & SS boards.

When it fails and I turn it off and on again, I get the 2 clicks then a pause the the third click and the red power LED.

I've taken the back off and see no obvious signs of a problem. The caps all look good. All Rubycon & Nichicon. I did the self check and it came out all OK's

It will fail on air channels or a digital source HDMI, and I can accelerate the issue by turning it on and off a number of times.

Looking for some help here I'm a relative noob at TV repair. And reading the Service manual is like trying to read Greek

Specific instructions on where to put the probe tips and what to test would be great help.

    Thanks,
    David

I'm not sure if your 2007 has the same features as mine or not. On my model you can unplug the 3 harnesess to the main board to isolate that. Tv should turn on with a white screen if all the other boards are good. Mine have the exact symptoms as yours it runs for an hour or so before kicking into 10 blinks. Mine appears to be something on the power board as it doesn't boot to a white screen after failure upon removing the connectors to the main board. Then again I just noticed yours is a 37" is it an lcd ? If so a whole different troubleshooting method should be used. You might try running a fan on the boards with the back open to see if it will stay on longer.

It's a plasma, and I'll give that a try. Thanks

If I disconnect the two connectors coming from the PA-Board to the H-Board, there is no power light green or red

Your tv seems to be completely different than mine, however two of your sub voltages appear to go through that triangular board in the middle, have you tested to see of the 5v and 9v are present there?

I have a love hate relationship with plasma technology, I love the picture quality, hate trying to diagnose all the oddball faults. I have a much better success rate fixing lcd tvs, but Tom66 has brought me over to the dark side and I keep buying broken plasmas.

See Pic., reading 4.4v doesn't sound right but I don't know.

no 4.4 doesnt sound right, it may be that it is at the threshold of triggering the error and could be why it works sometimes. Was that will the other boards connected? Not sure if maybe you lave a leaky diode or something else dragging down your voltage. now to try and isolate which board has the issue. The service manual isnt very helpful on isolating each board resistance testing may tell you if you have a mild fault on one board.

Yes this was with all the boards connected, and the screen was on (ie TV working).
I'm going to try and get the voltage when the TV is in the fault state.

Can you expand on resistance testing?

                    Re: Panasonic TH-37PX70E 10 Blink

Most of your voltage rails will have between 500-2000 ohms to ground, so you can check ( with a multimeter) the resistance between each circuit and ground on each board. if you were to find one that was low (say 100 ohms) then you could try to trace out what part on that board is causing your trouble.

I got 1 Meg ohm between the #9 and ground

So much for an easy one, you may have to look through the schematics as the fault can be beyond a switch, relay or mosfet and wont be apparent until the tv is on. It can be a real chore to figure out where all the circuit goes. I would test to see if you 4.4v does indeed drop when the tv is malfunctioning before spending many hours pouring over the schematics, it may be a red herring.
