    LG 60PX950 No video...

I got my 60PX950 in December of 2010 and while watching TV recently it locked up. The picture on the TV (from COAX input) was frozen and it was also overlayed with the "no signal detected" box. I turned it off and turned it back on and now I can't get any picture at all. I don't appear to have sound, but I don't know for sure because I had the internal sound disabled (using a receiver). It seems to respond to remote commands (blue light comes on), but again there is no picture, no sound through my receiver either.

I've read the post on common troubleshooting issues, but I don't think this is going to be a power supply problem since the TV seems to turn off and on normally. If even seems to flash a powered black screen when I turn it on for a second before going out.

Any advice? My wife said I could replace it, but my budget is only $500-$600, much less than the $1500 this one cost, but times have changed...

wll given the first thing you saw was a working cpu telling you it had no signal,

i'd try it with a direct input via scart or phono's
it could be a bad tuner or something related.

is it analog tv or digital ?

Two possibilities: control board or main board.
You can test the control board by jumpering the EXT AUTO GEN points, if you need help with this post a picture of the boards in your TV.

I think it's digital COAX. I have an HDTV antenna in my attic that feeds it.

So the black powered screen is a no signal from the CPU? It doesn't have anything on it (like a no signal box), it just lights up black. What is it doing when it goes back to no powered screen? I tried pressing the input button multiple times with all other sources powered on and I could never get it to switch to another source, not sure if that means anything or not.

I'll have to take the back off the TV after the kids go to bed to post a picture. When I looked back there earlier, I did see a flashing green light thru the holes in the panel at one point...

Ugh, I did some initial research on those two parts (control and main boards) and neither seem to be in stock anywhere except eBay... I'll post some pictures later.

Still haven't gotten the back panel off, but I did video what it's doing in case that helps:

The blue light on the right lights up when I press buttons on the remote, you can see it takes a while before it starts 'accepting' them, can't remember if it was always that long or not, I'm thinking it was, but honestly can't remember.

              Main Board (I think):

I don't see anything out of the ordinary other than cobwebs... (wtf). No burnt marks are anything else. Let me know if you need closer pictures of any other pieces. The green light that flashes comes from the little green light board on the left (labelled CTRL) underneath the power supply (yellow board)... The YSUS is the left big board, ZSUS is the big one on the right.

Can you get a closer pic of the CTRL board?

Just to add to this, I just left the TV on for a bit and felt the heat sinks on both YSUS and ZSYS and they were slightly warm... Not sure if that means anything but I'd seen people recommend determining if both were hot when troubleshooting issues. Some on the ZSUS were warmer than others, YSUS all seemed to be about the same warmness.

                      Turn TV off.
Place a wire jumper between the two holes; make sure they are connected.
Unplug the right hand wide ribbon cable.
Plug TV in and turn it on.

You should see a cycling of test patterns if the control board (CTRL board) is working OK. If so there are two possibilities, the 3D processing board being bad (in between the main board and the CTRL board) or the main board. The main board is a lot more likely but you may have to replace both boards.

Well, I shorted those pins and it went into test mode, red, blue, green, black, white, then some bars. Guess this means I need to find a main pcb or just replace the whole TV? Any chance it's possible to bypass the 3D board to keep from having to replace that?

I'm just not sure on spending $200+ on a 3.5 year old TV when I could replace it with something probably better for $1100 (Vizio M Series 60")....

I am not aware of any way to bypass the 3D board, the connectors are different.

I'm not sure I understand your logic. Fix a fairly well built LG plasma with good picture quality for about $200 or spend over $1000 on a crappy Vizio LED TV with worse reliability? (Just read all the problems with LED TV reliability.) If you go that way make sure you get an extended warranty. Plasma TV picture quality will be better than an LED TV too, except for in direct sunlight (LED TVs are brighter.)

Thanks tom, maybe all I needed was a nudge in the right direction. I guess I was worried about reliability since this board went out.

Can I call LG to get the main PCB or do I need to look around the internet to find it? SHopJimmy doesn't have it.

Looks like part could be listed under either: EBR71767001 or EBT61259501

                                Any idea on the difference?

Found the EBR version here for $180 listed as 'seller refurbished'. It's the same EBR number that's on my board sticker as well (apprehensive about the EBT version).

You do want to use the EBR number.

Looks like it is hard to find a compatible main board or same part, sadly.

You can try ordering from LG directly but I have seen $300+ which is insane for a TV part (they know how to charge!!)

I think the 50PX950 main board would fit, but that's also hard to find.

Thanks again for all your help. Looks like I'm ordered the $180 board from tvpartsplus with 60 day return policy and praying the 3D board isn't gone too...

Tom, do you know what the green reset button on the main pcb and the black reset button on the 3D board are supposed to do? Just discovered them tonight, they don't fix my issue, I'm simply curious. Hope to have my replacement board by the middle of next week.

I got the board in today, I hooked it up and it's working but there was a loose piece in it and looking at my old board it's the piece circled...

                                        A) What is it?
                                        B) Can I fix it?
                                        C) How is it working without it?
