I bought this TV years ago and it never gave any trouble until just a few weeks ago. It's probably just a coincidence, but it only started after the TV was moved to an upstairs bedroom (No, I didn't drop it ;-P). Anyway, the problem started out as intermittent and now seems to be continuous. I'll describe it as best I can and refer to some pics I took. The picture now appears very bright and the black level looks greenish instead of black. The picture also looks oversaturated and has very high contrast. I was afraid of burning out the lamp or display, so I quit using it. I took the back off the unit the other day and did a visual inspection. I cannot see any bulging caps or cracked solder joints, nor can I see anything that looks as though it might have overheated or leaked. I have yet to check components or any voltage levels with my multimeter. Because of the preponderance of bad caps around these days, I originally thought it might have been something on the PS board that was sending an overvoltage to the display. But now I am not so sure. The pictures were taken of a DVD image on pause (over-the-air transmissions exhibit the same symptoms). The first picture is from our 60” LG which is working fine. The second shows the same image on the 32” Samsung. The third picture is a close-up of the same Samsung image showing the greenish “black” background and what appear to be dead pixels but really aren't. Any suggestions as to what could be causing this and where to start looking?

Re: Samsung LNT3242H with display issues
First I would check LVDS cable is properly seated; this is internal to the unit, running between the main board and T-con board. If it is, I would then ask for a picture of the T-con as there is a common fault called a "gamma reference fault" which can sometimes cause this problem. Please do not PM me with questions! Re: Samsung LNT3242H with display issues
It looks like GAMMA voltage problem on the T-CON board. What does the pictures like with pictures that has more lighter back ground?
If your TV uses this T-CON board, it does have the famous AS15 GAMMA ICs that are failing like flies.

Re: Samsung LNT3242H with display issues
OK, here's where I'm at now. The LVDS cable was removed from the signal processor side yesterday when I did a visual of that board and I don't see a connector issue on that side. I located the T-con board at the top of the TV and removed the LVDS cable from the T-con side. Looked fine. I also removed two ribbon cables at the top of the board. Those look fine as well. I removed the board and did a visual inspection which told me nothing new. Is this the board that has issues? (see pic). If I still need to shoot a pic of the screen with a whiter background, I'll have to reassemble everything first. Just let me know.
p.s. Thanks guys for a prompt reply to this.Comment

Re: Samsung LNT3242H with display issues
See those small square copper pads on the T-CON board with GMxx? Take the DC Voltage readings, black probe on the chassis.
By CN1 you can see GM1, GM2, GM3, GM4.
By CN2 you can see GM5~GM14.Never stop learning

Re: Samsung LNT3242H with display issues
OK, I reinstalled the T-con board (without metal cover) and took the GM1-GM14 voltage readings (Fluke DMM). This was with an image on the TV that was whiter than the previous pics. Here's what I got:
GM1 13.06 VDC
GM2 10.66 VDC
GM3 11.84 VDC
GM4 11.98 VDC
GM5 8.98 VDC
GM6 7.53 VDC
GM7 7.07 VDC
GM8 10.29 VDC
GM9 6.512 VDC
GM10 5.07 VDC
GM11 4.526 VDC
GM12 3.818 VDC
GM13 3.028 VDC
GM14 0.008 VDC
It's getting late so I'll check back tomorrow sometime to see your response. Thanks again.Comment

Re: Samsung LNT3242H with display issues
I have a Samsung LN-T3242H, I'm wondering if the t-con replacement would fix the problem I'm having. There is 'shadowing' over the center (similar to the initial poster's center picture), it's getting a little dark on one edge (kinda spotty) and a 'ghosty' lighter vertical line, about 3" wide on the opposite side of the screen. I'd post a picture but, I'm new here so I can't! Any input will be greatly appreciated!Comment

by TR103Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
- sound and backlight, but no picture
- when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
- it keeps rebooting
- without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
- when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

by JJAAMMThis was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.
Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode... -
by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -
by DodgethisHello all,
This is my first post, but long term lurker on the form learning as much as possible about these TV's. I was given this TV as due to a power outage of constant On/off of power to TV. The TV originally would just click on and off (Typical Reboot Cycle). I opened the back of the TV, and troubleshooted by taking the 96 pin LVDS off one at a time to see if I had a picture on either side. I finally fixed the reboot cycle by finding the error on the left side of the screen off connector CN 1301, and the TV would stay on. Further troubleshooting led me to the driver boards where...5 Photos - Loading...
