I got a e390vl. And I plug it in the vizio logo lights up press power and the set turns on the screen turns on displays the vizio splash screen then tv shuts off even the logo and will not turn back on. I checked and I'm getting 5v standby but no 12v. So I'm thinking its a v regulator. I'm having issues checking them cause I cannot read the writing on all of them. One reads ax1008 then 12101. Another regulator reads H 1117C then below it says 1.2v then 207. And another regulator I can't read the writing but I can make out 1117

Re: E390vl help with regulator testing
Also I checked the 12v fuse on the main board and it doesn't get any voltage. Does the main board send 12v to the power board or is it the other way around? -
Re: E390vl help with regulator testing
I'll bet corrupted flash over regulator on these, this is a newer Vizio (39" panels didn't start appearing until 2012) so you proboably want to focus on that, especially if splash screen pops up.
Not saying it isn't a regulator, but flash memory failure is 99x more likely, in my opinion, the bane of Vizios. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Also on the regulator that I couldn't quite read. The ground pin read.257v shouldn't it be at 0.Comment

Re: E390vl help with regulator testing
You can sometimes buy the flash chips on ebay for about $20. But if not you would need a new main board.
If a regulator is adjustable the ground isn't usually 0V but is instead floating about 1.25V below the output. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: E390vl help with regulator testing
Also I'm not sure if I was clear when I said it turns off. The tv then would not turn back on even if I unplugged it and pressed the power button for 30sec and plugged back in.Comment

Re: E390vl help with regulator testing
How do I figure out which chip on the board is the EEPROM I have the new one just don't know how to find the origonal oneComment

Re: E390vl help with regulator testing
Also does it matter which way it goes in? Meaning there is no marking of which leg is leg one and which on is leg eight.Comment

Re: E390vl help with regulator testing
Yes it does. You need to locate pin 1 marker on your original device or on your board. Then solder new one same way round...Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: E390vl help with regulator testing
Some of these small flash-chips have a side thats sloped--thats the side on which is pin 1
Just gotta look carefully at them--There'll definitely be a marking or indentation or some kind of indication which end/side is which....
The part number--is generally printed the same way on these things when they are by same maker--but not always the case.TELEFIX

Re: E390vl help with regulator testing
So on this one it has a dot in the corner of the chip and that actually matches up with the pad side of the pcb that has a dot in the same corner. I figured it out by looking at the other chips on the board and they all were the same way. So I got it soldered in but when I plug it up the tv does nothing. Not even light up the logo. I have 5v standby at the fuse on the main board.Comment

Re: E390vl help with regulator testing
The +12v supply power to (coming from the power supply) the audio amp and the LCD screen, are you saying the 12volt fuse is open?Comment

Re: E390vl help with regulator testing
No the fuses on the main board are not shorted. They are fine.Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by Per HanssonI have repaired a Sign WiFi Smart Plug with model number: SNSM-WASINGLE sold by Spares Nordic AB in Sweden.
The fault condition was that the device gave no signs of life: pressing the push button did not cycle the internal relay and the blue LED did not come on and it was not seen on the WiFi network.
The fault was very simple, capacitor C3 on the PCB with writing "KSJ" and "LOWESR" had literally blown its top off, after replacing it the device works fine again!

by howardc64Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.
It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot.... - Loading...
