Toshiba 42HP66 no video have sound

    Hi!

I have a toshiba 42HP66, has sound but no video. I have not had a chance to take the back off and get pictures and voltage readings.

Where should I start? I don't hear any Y or X buzzing and I see they both have 4 ceramic fuses.

    Thanks!

MY FIRST QUESS WOuld be IPM is bad on y sys. very typical. its a fairly easy repair - buy a new IPM and remove old (google it) and install new. good luck.

I tried doing a quick google search but it kept pulling up CoopellTV repair lol.

Does anyone happen to know the part number off hand for the IPM?

The IPM part number is usually listed on the side of the large heat sinks. The 42HP66 I'm working on uses YPPD-J018C: http://www.ebay.com/itm/YPPD-J017C-Y...-/110502432151

Check the white ceramic fuses on each of the sustains. A blown fuse is a typical indicator of IPM failure on that particular board. If you've never replaced an IPM, it is NOT an easy repair for a first-timer. Take your time:

I sent you a PM, also. If you have an ESR meter, can you tell me the capacitance and ESR measurements you receive for the cap at C22 on the Y-Sus's PS101 board?

I have the same TV here I'm working on with the same symptom. I suspect the Y-SUS, however none of the fuses are bad, which makes me a little doubtful. The IPM heatsink never gets warm, while conversely the Z-SUS heatsink DOES indeed get warm. I would suspect a bad IPM on the Y-SUS, but the lack of a blown fuse makes me wonder. Can anyone offer any help?

I pulled the Y Drive/buffer out and measured it for shorts, but it seems to be fine. My next step is to pull the Y-SUS and check the IPM for shorts using this guide:

            http://blog.coppelltvrepair.com/2011...s-ipm-for.html

I will see what I find.

When the IPM blows, do the fuses sometimes remain intact?

Okay, so the Y-SUS IPM measures okay in the 6 tests Coppell TV lists. I can't seem to be able to find a problem on the Y-SUS. I pulled the Z-SUS and it's IPM also checks okay.

If anyone has run into one of these sets with no bad fuses, but symptoms of a bad Y-SUS, please reply! Thanks!
