Re: Hitachi P50S601 - No prime, Solid Blue LED, can't turn off
Got a service bulletin showing how to force on the power supply to see if was capable of reaching full VS and it was not, so replaced power supply board and that fixed the TV. Very odd that it was locking up and not responding, though.

Re: Hitachi P50S601 - No prime, Solid Blue LED, can't turn off
Someone told me you can't remove both buffers at once, is that true? Should I try removing one at a time? Also, I'm concerned that the logic and main I got could have been defective, too, but need to confirm before trying additional boards.

Hitachi P50S601 - No prime, Solid Blue LED, can't turn off
Greetings!
This is my office TV and came back to work after the weekend to find the TV with blue power light on (which is normally the on state), but no picture. Power had gone off over the weekend in the building. Also, found that TV was plugged into a 3 prong outlet surge protector with the ground prong cut off sometime in the past. Tried resetting the AC and found that it clicks on when plugged in, no panel prime, blue LED turns solid, can hear fans come on, then another click as if it's shutting down, but blue LED stays on. Pressing power will not do anything; it's just stuck...

Re: Help repair this relic? Philips 42PF7220A/37, pulsing buzz from YSUS
Thanks for the help guys. After replacing the logic, the set still had the same symptoms, so I put the original logic back in and now it started working, but had a messed up picture and I found a cable from the logic to the main board not fully seated. My guess is that it may have been even further out and was causing a logic problem/main board problem. Must have gotten loose when the power supply was pulled originally or something. All is well now!

Re: Help repair this relic? Philips 42PF7220A/37, pulsing buzz from YSUS
I have tried a 3rd YSUS now and same pulsing buzz. I haven't put in the 2nd set of buffers yet because the 1st don't show any shorts and I'm really thinking the problem must be elsewhere. I'm thinking of getting a ZSUS, power supply and a logic board and just trying them all, but don't really want to have to go through all of that.

Re: Help repair this relic? Philips 42PF7220A/37, pulsing buzz from YSUS
Hello. Yes all the screws are tight and no solder connections found to be bad.
Update on troubleshooting steps: I did try running it for 3 minutes with the buffers disconnected from the panel, but still connected to the YSUS and none of the buffer IC heatsinks get hot. Also the large heatsink on the YSUS stays cool. I'm wondering if I was sent another bad YSUS (bad in a different way then 1st order), but I'm still suspicious of that upper buffer's condition....

Help repair this relic? Philips 42PF7220A/37, pulsing buzz from YSUS
Greetings all!
Originally this set had the usual messed up video symptoms such as: horizontal lines, weak, grainy video, bottom and top of picture differ in intensity of problem. It also seemed to slow to turn on or show the messed up picture.
Seemed like must be YScan/buffer board failure. Ordered buffer boards from my distributor which were supposed to be original/new and also from another distributor, I ordered the YSUS because I wanted to replace it for preventative maintenance. (also, the YSUS had a bulged cap, so there was even more reason to suspect it could...

Re: Sony KDE-50XS955 11 flashes
On my unit (which has the same initial symptoms), we can also heat around IC6701 and the unit will come on. Not sure we want to replace the IC yet, still testing things. Also, the IC you got on eBay was from China, correct? Do you ever wonder if those are genuine and not some fake part?

Hey Freak, did you ever revive your KDE-50SX955? I just got one with the 11 blink code.
