LG 42PG3000 - no priming glow, bad buffer board

I found a bad buffer IC, but it's not badly shorted, only 300 ohms to output. It's bad enough to get hot though, and bring down Vsc and -Vy. New buffer is about £14 on eBay.

Early, first gen IPM-free LG plasma, 42 inches. Plus a 46 inch PZ82 (more on that later... that's a nice one...)

Buffer replaced, TV working now. Unfortunately panel presents with a 1pix vertical line far right of image, very faint but visible. Non repairable.

That's my 2nd bad plasma panel compared to probably 10 LCD panels, at least...

Bummer, nothing like taking time to work on something to find out it's still going to die, but atleast you got good parts!

tom66 back when I posted the panasonic plasma with the line down the screen I wasn't trying to question you I was just trying to be optimistic!

Accept my apology your input is greatly appreciated and I meant no disrespect!

It's still watchable (the line is faint and varies depending on colour), but I won't be able to sell it for much.
It appears to me like the blue and green subpixels have shorted, because when green is shown, the line is gone. Very odd. almost like it's the actual glass rather than the COF chip.

pity it has this fault would you make more selling the boards seperatly? as you know there tested good. a question tom when you sell boards on ebay do you get many returns as in ive got a few that are good but i dont want to sell them to people who just want to eliminate faulty boards in there sets when theres nothing wrong with the ones im selling. if you sell yours do you offer a full refund? with buyer to pay return postage ive got some to put on but not sure if its worth the hassel.

I don't sell boards on eBay because of the issues with returns. If a TV is to be scrapped I'll sell it whole.

Re: LG 42PG3000 - no priming glow, bad buffer board

Pictures of the line for anyone that's interested. Luckily only paid £31 for this plus £17 for Y-buffer so can make money back selling it with minor defect. At least the problems usually don't get worse on plasmas. Just bad luck if it happens, most common on LG & Samsung, rare on Panasonic.

Adjusting Va made no difference to line prominance, though this set only has a range of 57~63V. If you adjust Va below 57V, TV will not power up. (I'm guessing a sequencing detect fault...)

ive seen worse and people still watch them and it does not seem to bother them, im sure you will still make a little profit on it as you say its only a minor defect.

                    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Assuming...

                    Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

                    by Hakuu
                    Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                    More Details

                    TV Model - LG OLED77G1PUA

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...

                    Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
                    by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
                    CN6401
                    Pin 01 NC
                    Pin 02 NC
                    Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
                    Pin 04 "N/C"
                    Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
                    Pin 06 "GND": N/C
                    Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...
